Job summary

MKS MSD is seeking a Chemist to support product development in the CPP business unit. You will work under the R&D Manager CRC to conduct R&D activities, including testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and process optimization, in a laboratory and pilot line setting.

You will collaborate with local and global teams, perform literature reviews, write technical papers or patents when applicable, and assist customers with troubleshooting and site visits as needed, while maintaining

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in chemical industries or related fields.
• M.Sc. educational background in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organic or Inorganic Chemistry.
• Experience in laboratories, formulations, qualifications.
• Solid understanding of solvents, polymers, reaction mechanisms, electrochemistry and related chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Carry out bench experiments and pilot line work to demonstrate feasibility and develop new products.
• Design experiments (DOE) and plan projects within PM frameworks.
• Develop and modify product formulations based on market needs and literature.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners locally and globally.
• Contribute to writing technical papers and patents when applicable.
• Communicate progress to stakeholders and maintain 5S and safety standards.

A Day in Your Life at MKS

As a Chemist at MKS MSD, you will partner with Business Unit - CPP to support product development and associated activities. In this role, you will report to the R&D Manager CRC (Corrosion Resistant Coating). You will carry out different approaches and methodologies to conduct R&D activities related to product development, testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and process optimization under technical guidance.

You will work closely with colleagues from your own team, the team manager, the R&D manager, and other cross-functional departments, both local and global. Open and clear communication with team members and the R&D manager is expected. You are expected to come up with your own ideas and approaches to execute tasks and duties successfully.

When required, you will also support customers through consultation, troubleshooting, process optimization, site visits, and on-site troubleshooting, while maintaining departmental and company confidentiality and compliance.

Skills You Bring

Technical Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in industries such as chemical, electrochemical, polymer, physical, organic, inorganic, or surface treatment.
• M.Sc. educational background in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organic Chemistry, inorganic
• Experience working in chemical laboratories, developing formulations and products, and conducting qualifications.
• Basic understanding of solvents, polymers, reaction mechanisms, electrochemistry, key components, molecular interactions, and their reaction mechanisms.
• In-depth knowledge of surfactants and organic and inorganic molecules.
• Ability to tune structure-property relationships of organic and inorganic molecules.
• Synthetic knowledge of organic and inorganic molecules.
• Proficiency in project management, software, and statistical applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, JMP, and Minitab.
• Experience with e-notebooks or ELN would be an added advantage.
• Data-driven mindset and experience in statistics, data interpretation, and representation: gather, visualize, interpret, and conclude.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, with a strong focus on delivering results and identifying alternative solutions when challenges arise.
