Job summary

MAN TRUCK & BUS INDIA PVT. LTD in Pune invites an experienced foundation brake design engineer to lead end-to-end design and development of drum/disc brake systems for commercial vehicles.

You will model in CATIA, create 3D and 2D drawings, coordinate with suppliers, and ensure compliance with GD&T, homologation and performance standards while collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Automotive engineering or M-Tech Mechanical engineering.
• 8 to 10 years of experience in brake design or related field.
• End-to-end design responsibility with supplier coordination and adherence to performance, quality and homologation standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop foundation brake systems (drum/disc) for commercial vehicles.
• Perform concept design, layout creation, and detailed engineering.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA (V5/V6) and ensure GD&T-compliant drawings.
• Act as technical interface with suppliers for brake and axle components and review supplier designs/drawings.
• Support RFQ, supplier selection and technical discussions.
• Participate in brake performance evaluations, durability testing and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing and testing teams; apply root cause analysis tools.

Qualification: Bachelor’s in Mechanical engineering or Automotive engineering / M-Tech Mechanical engineering

Experience: 8 to 10 years

Skilled and motivated foundation Brake Design Engineer to support the design and development of foundation brake systems components for commercial vehicles. The role involves end-to-end design responsibility, supplier coordination, and ensuring compliance with performance, quality standards and homologation requirements.

Design & Development:

• Design and develop foundation brake systems (Drum/Disc brakes) for commercial vehicles.
• Perform concept design, layout creation, and detailed engineering.

CAD Modeling & Drafting:

• Proficiency to create 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA (V5/V6).
• Ensure drawings are compliant with GD&T standards and internal quality guidelines.
• Manage revisions, BOMs, and design documentation.
• Act as technical interface with suppliers for brake and axle components.
• Review supplier designs, drawings, and validation reports.
• Support RFQ, supplier selection, and technical discussions.

Validation & Testing Support:

• Participate in brake performance evaluations, durability testing, and issue resolution.
• Coordinate with testing teams (HIL/vehicle level where applicable).

Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Work with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and testing teams.
• Support problem-solving using root cause analysis tools (8D, Fishbone, etc.).

Compliance & Standards:

• Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements (e.g., UNECE R13 if applicable).
