Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited is seeking a passionate CFD engineer to support vehicle development by simulating battery thermal systems using STAR CCM and ANSA.

You will develop 3D multi-physics models, analyze results, and present findings to influence engineering decisions, with emphasis on heat transfer, coolant flow, and thermoelectric effects.

Qualifications

• Experience with 3D thermal CFD simulations in battery systems.
• Proficiency with STAR CCM and ANSA for model setup and validation.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics relevant to battery cooling.
• Awareness of thermoelectric phenomena and their effects on battery packs.
• Proficient Excel VBA for macros and data mapping.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D multi-physics models to simulate heat generation and coolant flow in cells, modules and packs.
• Run CFD simulations, analyze results and present findings to influence engineering decisions.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to advance battery thermal management concepts.

Join our dynamic CAE Unit at BMWTechWorks India, where you will play a key role in supporting BMW’s vehicle development by conducting advanced CFD simulations of Battery thermal and its components. Your work will directly contribute to optimizing Battery performance, efficiency, and innovation through cutting‑edge simulation techniques. This role focuses on developing detailed 3D multi physics and thermoelectric models to simulate heat generation, coolant flow across cells, modules and battery packs. Responsible for creating and running simulation models using industry‑leading tools, analyzing results, and presenting findings to drive engineering decisions. Must have technical skill

• Ideally, experience with STAR CCM and ANSA , geometry cleanup in STARCCM using 3D CAD tool
• Deep understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, especially in validating built models and results; direct experience in battery thermal management would be even better.
• Familiar with thermoelectric phenomena
• Advanced Excel VBA skills, including proficiency in applying and modifying macros, preparing characteristic maps, and variant lists.
• Knowledge of Java or Matlab is also beneficial.
• Strong methodological approach to support the development of new models and drive concepts.

Good to have Technical skills

• Basic knowledge of battery systems and their simulation requirements
