Job summary

HELLA India Automotive Pvt Ltd. in Chennai seeks a CFD Engineer to lead thermal simulations for automotive lighting systems. You will build STAR-CCM+ models, run simulations, and report findings to support design decisions. Strong grasp of thermal engineering, CFD, and Python scripting is essential.

You will collaborate with design and validation teams to ensure robustness, manage multiple projects, and maintain FORVIA-HELLA standards across development activities.

Qualifications

• Education – BE / B. Tech or above.
• 3–5 years of experience in CFD/thermal simulation in automotive.
• Strong fundamentals in Thermal Engineering, CFD, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer.
• Proficient with StarCCM+; CAD CATIA; Python scripting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CFD models as per FORVIA-HELLA standards.
• Provide simulation support to the design team during development (Design & Validation).
• Perform CFD simulations for automotive headlamp and rear lamp systems to evaluate thermal performance and fogging/defogging.
• Create simulation models in StarCCM+ from customer inputs; preprocess, set up solvers, post-process, and generate reports.
• Interpret CFD results to identify root causes and suggest design improvements.
• Validate concept designs using simulations and assess design robustness.
• Handle multiple projects and collaborate with other departments for process improvements.

YOUR TASKS

• We are looking for a candidate who will be responsible for CFD Activities by performing thermal simulation and support knowledge on development projects. You should have very high penchant for engineering analysis and analytical work.

You will be responsible for

• Prepare CFD models as per FORVIA-HELLA standards.
• Provide simulation support to the design team, during the development process (Design & Validation).
• Perform CFD simulations for automotive headlamp and rear lamp systems, leveraging expertise in conjugate heat transfer and multiphase flow analysis to evaluate thermal performance, fogging/defogging performance.
• Responsibilities include interpreting customer inputs to create simulation models required in StarCCM+ to perform CFD analysis, pre-processing, solver setup, post-processing results and generating customer reports.
• Expert in ability to interpret the CFD results, predict the root cause of failure and provide recommendation to meet or improve the performance of the system.
• Validate concept designs using simulation techniques and determine design robustness, critical to function requirements.
• Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously when required.
• Close cooperation with other specialized departments and develops process improvements and standard work practices for operational efficiency.
• Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality, reliability, and stability.

Your Qualifications

• Education – BE / B. Tech or above.
• Experience - 3 to 5 Years of working experience with CFD tools preferably StarCCM+3-5 years of Experience in the Automotive industry or in the field of thermal simulation.
• Required Technical Skills:
• Basic knowledge in fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering
• Sound knowledge and deep understanding of subjects like Thermal Engineering / CFD / Fluid Mechanics / Heat Transfer To be proficient in the MS Office applications
• Desirable knowledge in CFD simulation tools
• Written and spoken English is mandatory
• Software (Preferred)
• Expert in CFD tool STARCCM+
• Knowledge in CAD tool CATIA to do design modifications.
• Knowledge of scripting in Python will be added advantage
• Knowledge of Design of Experiment / / 1D simulation will be added advantage.
• Knowledge of Automation Tools will be an added advantage
