Job summary

HELLA India Automotive Pvt Ltd in Coimbatore is seeking an Optics Design Engineer to develop optical geometries for headlamps, perform lighting simulations, and contribute to reflector technologies while coordinating with internal teams.

The role includes software development and evaluation for lighting calculations, advising on optical components and free-form surfaces, and preparing samples and prototypes.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in engineering with 2–5 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of lighting technology, CAD/CAM, and testing methods.
• Proficient in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Develop optical geometries of headlamp components for series development.
• Calculate geometries using lighting simulations and report results to Design and other internal teams.
• Contribute to reflector technologies development with responsible teams.
• Assist development and evaluation of software for lighting calculations; test programs.
• Advise organizational units on the use of optical components and free-form headlamp designs.
• Prepare light samples, photometric components, and prototypes for testing.
• Assist in the development of new light sources with responsible departments and suppliers.
• Plan, measure, and analyze headlamp components and experiments.
• Set up complex experiment designs and conduct photometric investigations.
• Analyze temperature behavior of equipment in the laboratory and interpret results.
• Identify fault causes and propose solutions with involved departments.
• Analyze optical materials and surfaces using self-developed methods.

OPTICS DESIGN ENGINEER

YOUR TASKS

• Developing optical geometries 1.Accept and clarify the task in the form of oral or written laboratory and development orders;2.Calculate optical geometries of headlamp components for series development and series-related predevelopment, using common lighting technology related simulation technology; evaluate and submit the results to Design and/or other internal and external departments and derive possible design-relatedmeasures;3.Involvement in the new or advanced development of reflector technologies in cooperation with thoseresponsible;4.Assist with the development and evaluation of software programs for lighting technology related calculations in collaboration with internal and external departments; test and evaluate new programs in consultation with internal departments;5.Advising the organizational units affected with regard to the use of optical components, as well as the design of free-form areas for headlamps;6.Arranging and/or involvement in the preparation of light samples, photometric components and prototypes in agreement with the superior and the posts involved;7.Assist in the development of new light sources in consultation with the responsible departments and in collaboration with suppliers;
• Planning, measuring, analyzing 1.Accept or put together the headlamp components required, including the necessary documents; check the components and prepare them for inspection;2.Set up complex experiment designs, possibly adapting existing experiment and test facilities;3.Carry out or arrange extensive photometric investigations, following selection of the suitable methods and processes; record, check and present the results;4.Carry out studies on temperature behavior of equipment for the testing and experimenting laboratory;5.nalyze and interpret the results based on the required values. Possibly identify causes of faults and propose possible solutions in collaboration with departments involved;6.Analyze and qualify optical materials and surfaces using self-developed test methods and procedures.
• Other tasks - Supporting Series Production in questions of light measuring technology and Performing other tasks related to this position including examining and evaluating suggested improvements, plus complying with industrial safety and environmental protection measures pertaining to the position’s duties

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• B. E / B. Tech with 2 to 5 Years of relevant experiences
• Good Knowledge / Skill in Product development lighting technology, CAD/CAM and Measuring and testing technology
• Good in English -Verbal / Written
