Job summary

HELLA India Automotive Pvt Ltd. in Chennai seeks a CFD Engineer (M/F/D) to drive thermal simulation efforts for automotive lighting systems.

You will develop CFD models, run simulations, and support design teams throughout development, ensuring robust and optimized lamp performance. The role requires 3–5 years of CFD experience (StarCCM+) in automotive or thermal fields, strong fundamentals in thermal engineering, and proficiency in English.

Qualifications

• BE / B.Tech or above in engineering.
• 3–5 years of CFD experience, preferably StarCCM+ in automotive or thermal simulation.
• Proficiency in Thermal Engineering, CFD, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer; MS Office.
• English language is mandatory.
• STARCCM+ expertise; CATIA; Python scripting an advantage.
• DOE / 1D simulation knowledge is an advantage.
• Automation Tools knowledge is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CFD models per FORVIA-HELLA standards.
• Provide simulation support to the design team during development (Design & Validation).
• Perform CFD simulations for automotive headlamp and rear lamp systems.
• Interpret CFD results to identify root causes and suggest improvements.
• Validate concepts using simulations and assess design robustness.
• Handle multiple projects and coordinate with other departments for process improvements.

CFD ENGINEER (M/F/D)

YOUR TASKS

We are looking for a candidate who will be responsible for CFD Activities by performing thermal simulation and support knowledge on development projects. You should have very high penchant for engineering analysis and analytical work.

You will be responsible for

• Prepare CFD models as per FORVIA-HELLA standards.
• Provide simulation support to the design team, during the development process (Design & Validation).
• Perform CFD simulations for automotive headlamp and rear lamp systems, leveraging expertise in conjugate heat transfer and multiphase flow analysis to evaluate thermal performance, fogging/defogging performance.
• Responsibilities include interpreting customer inputs to create simulation models required in StarCCM+ to perform CFD analysis, pre-processing, solver setup, post-processing results and generating customer reports.
• Expert in ability to interpret the CFD results, predict the root cause of failure and provide recommendation to meet or improve the performance of the system.
• Validate concept designs using simulation techniques and determine design robustness, critical to function requirements.
• Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously when required.
• Close cooperation with other specialized departments and develops process improvements and standard work practices for operational efficiency.
• Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality, reliability, and stability.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• Education – BE / B. Tech or above.
• Experience - 3 to 5 Years of working experience with CFD tools preferably StarCCM+3-5 years of Experience in the Automotive industry or in the field of thermal simulation.
• Required Technical Skills:
• Basic knowledge in fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering
• Sound knowledge and deep understanding of subjects like Thermal Engineering / CFD / Fluid Mechanics / Heat Transfer
  To be proficient in the MS Office applications
• Desirable knowledge in CFD simulation tools
• Written and spoken English is mandatory
• Software (Preferred)
  Expert in CFD tool STARCCM+
  Knowledge in CAD tool CATIA to do design modifications.
  Knowledge of scripting in Python will be added advantage
  Knowledge of Design of Experiment // 1D simulation will be added advantage.
