Job summary

Vertiv in India seeks a CFD engineer to perform system and component level simulations using Celsius EC, Reality DC, Ansys Icepak and Fluent. You will generate meshes, run steady and transient analyses, and critically evaluate results to support design improvements for data center cooling.

You will collaborate with global teams, prepare reports, and help reduce physical testing through virtual testing. Proactive problem-solving, familiarity with Creo/Inventor, and communication in English are

Job Description

To perform CFD Analysis for system and component levels using different software’s such as Celsius EC & Reality DC from Cadence and has exposure in electronics cooling. Engineer needs to conduct model checks and/or create parametric models with available CAD packages and perform the sensitivity analysis independently with limited assistance. He/She should be able to generate the CFD mesh/model and run steady/transient flow/thermal analysis using different software’s and analyze the simulation results as well as prepare the reports clearly and independently. Utilize the analytical skill set and simulation tools to analyze the fluid flow systems and provide recommendations for design improvements. He/She should have knowledge on fan operation and performance curve as well as flow bench/wind tunnel testing. He/She needs to participate and support potential product development opportunities on a global level and provide technical expertise toward design. One must drive virtual testing and reduce physical tests, develop and improve current best practices of the computational methods/hand calculations.

Responsibilities

• Sound knowledge in fluid mechanics/CFD/heat transfer/thermodynamics
• Minimum 3 years CFD analysis experience (steady/transient, laminar/turbulence flow, multi-phase flow, evaporation, etc.) in CFD analysis software such as Celsius EC & Reality DC from Cadence, Ansys Icepak and Fluent
• Desirable to have knowledge on data center operation and experience in external/internal data center CFD simulation
• Knowledge of telecommunication products like cabinets, enclosures, datacentre, refrigeration cycle etc. will be added advantage
• Support the CFD for full data centre projects – NA, India, EMEA or ANZ region projects
• Support for related accessories products of data center CFD – thermal storage tank, piping pressure drop, liquid cooling, etc.
• Learn and understand Vertiv and other competitors products and create a database. Coordinate with regional thermal teams
• Heating and ventilation calculations for data center – container data center and also stick build data centers
• Support design engineering teams with CFD-driven inputs for HVAC sizing, cooling redundancy planning, and equipment placement
• If required interface directly with clients to understand project requirements, present simulation results, and provide design recommendations and get approval on the same as required
• Prepare and deliver client-facing CFD reports, thermal risk assessments, and design validation presentations
• Also, develop CFD reports with clients for uptime or relevant certifications
• Benchmark simulations against ASHRAE thermal guidelines (TC 9.9) and industry best practices for data centre cooling
• Identify thermal risks, single points of failure in cooling architecture, and propose mitigation strategies to clients
• Support pre-sales/bid teams with preliminary CFD studies and feasibility assessments for new DC projects
• Comfortable in working with Creo/Inventor for model check and open to learning same
• Preferable to have a knowledge in AI application and 1D simulation
• Should be able to interpret analysis results for base design and suggest modification
• Proactive toward identifying the issues and solving the problems
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects
• Willing to learn and train team members on different software
• Also, willing to work with external consultants for getting work done if required due to workload

Authorities

• Review and approval of outsourced architectural design documentation with support of lead architect
• Approve or reject technically received supplier offer with support of lead architect
• Approve or reject suggested changes by subcontractor on approved workshop documentation with support of lead architect

Qualifications

• Education – Full time ME/M.Tech with specialization in thermal engineering/aerospace/heat power from a reputed institute
• Excellent command of the English language, good interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, good analytical & problem-solving skills, self‑motivated, ownership, timeline commitment, discipline, etc.
• Good experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Other skills – independent, managing and coordinating project, attention to details, problem solving, organization, creativity, teamwork
