Job summary

Versigent is seeking an up-and-coming cash application associate in Pune to own end-to-end cash posting and allocation for assigned scopes. You will ensure same-day posting, manage auto-match initiatives, and reduce unapplied cash while maintaining strong bank-to-GL reconciliations.

You will partner with Collections, Billing, and Treasury to uphold controls, drive process improvements, and deliver accurate reporting with a high standard of documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

• Education in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related field.
• 1–3 years experience in OTC/AR/cash application in SSC/GBS or multinational environment.
• Solid understanding of AR & cash application processes.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivots, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, text functions, PowerQuery).
• Working knowledge of SAP FI/AR or similar ERP; exposure to bank portals/HighRadius is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Post daily cash receipts and apply to open AR; process discounts and short payments.
• Investigate and resolve payment mismatches; reduce unapplied cash.
• Handle remittance channels and maintain mailbox hygiene.
• Execute bank reconciliations and support month/quarter/year end close.
• Maintain documentation and audit trail; prepare evidence packs for audits.
• Monitor KPIs and support root-cause analysis for mismatches; engage stakeholders.

Job description

Role Overview

Execute and own end to end cash application operations for assigned scope/countries. Ensure timely same day posting, high auto match rate, reduction of unapplied cash, accurate bank to GL reconciliations, and robust documentation in line with Versigent controls. Partner with Collections/Credit/Billing/Treasury and drive service quality, compliance, and improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Cash Application Operations

• Post daily cash receipts and apply to open AR; process discounts, short payments, write offs per approval matrix.
• Investigate and resolve payment mismatches; monitor and reduce unapplied/on account balances.
• Handle customer remittance channels (emails/portals/EDI); maintain remittance mailbox hygiene.
• Execute bank reconciliations (including Sub GL clearing items) and support month /quarter /year end close.

Controls & Compliance

• Operate per Versigent policies, internal controls, and audit requirements; maintain complete documentation and audit trail.
• Prepare evidence packs and respond to audit inquiries.
• Adhere to SEGREGATION OF DUTY and approval frameworks.

Performance & Reporting

• Monitor and report core KPIs: same day posting hit rate, auto match %, unapplied cash, aging of on account/suspense.
• Support root cause analysis for recurring mismatches; recommend corrective actions.

Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with Collections/Credit on disputes, chargebacks, and short payments; with Billing on invoice data quality; with Treasury on bank exceptions.
• Provide professional, timely communication to internal customers and business.

Process Excellence

• Maintain and improve SOPs and work instructions.
• Identify improvement opportunities (templates, macros, mailbox rules, matching rules); support mini projects and testing.

Basic Requirements (R – required, P – preferred)

Education & Experience

• Education in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related (P).
• 1–3 years experience in OTC/AR/cash application in SSC/GBS or multinational environment (R).
• Technical Skills
• Solid understanding of AR & cash application processes (R).
• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivots, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, text functions, basic PowerQuery) (R).
• Working knowledge of SAP (FI/AR) or similar ERP (R).
• Exposure to workflow tools/bank portals/HighRadius or similar (P).
• Ability to interpret bank files/MT940/BAI2 where applicable (P).
