Role Description

The Car Evaluator role at Spinny is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Car Evaluator is responsible for inspecting used vehicles against Spinny’s quality standards, conducting detailed mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic assessments, and documenting findings in an accurate and structured manner. In this role, the individual will test drive vehicles to evaluate performance, verify service history, and check for any signs of accident damage or tampering. The Car Evaluator will collaborate closely with operations, sales, and pricing teams to provide clear reports and recommendations that support fair valuation and customer transparency. Day-to-day activities include using diagnostic tools, following standardized inspection checklists, updating records in internal systems, and ensuring that every car presented to customers meets Spinny’s safety and quality benchmarks.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of automotive systems (engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical components) and practical experience in vehicle inspection or service.
• Ability to perform structured evaluations using diagnostic tools, checklists, and standardized processes, with high attention to detail.
• Solid documentation and reporting skills, including clear written descriptions of findings and basic data entry in digital platforms.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with operations, sales, and pricing teams and explain technical issues in simple terms.
• Customer-focused mindset, integrity in assessment, and commitment to transparency and safety.
• Comfort with using mobile apps or software systems for inspections, record-keeping, and workflow management.
• Prior experience in automobile workshops, pre-owned car evaluations, or vehicle service centers is highly beneficial.
• Relevant technical diploma, ITI, or certification in automobile engineering or a related field preferred; valid driving license required.
