Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited in Chennai is seeking a CAE engineer to support CAD studies and meshing of interior and powertrain components according to safety model build standards. You will prepare input data, interface definitions and BOM connections while ensuring robust model integrity.

Proficiency in Hypermesh and exposure to LS-Dyna, Abaqus and Nastran are preferred, along with scripting basics and solid documentation skills to maintain clear CAE work packages.

Qualifications

• Experience in CAD data preparation and input generation for CAE analyses.
• Exposure to automotive interior CAE workflows and validation processes.
• Familiarity with meshing requirements for sheet metal and plastics.
• Knowledge of FE methods and safety model build standards would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform CAD study (CAD missing, CAD issues, Intersections).
• Mesh Sheet metal, plastic trims and Powertrain components per safety model standards.
• Prepare input (CAD/BOM/NGD) data queries, connection/intersection, BOM.
• Apply BOM and applicable FE mechanisms in the Safety models.
• Prepare system model connections (Spot, Seam, adhesives, joints) and analytical assemblies.
• Assign contacts interfaces, database (node/section/part/element).
• Perform de-penetration/intersection at vehicle level.
• Be a quick learner and adapt to the process quickly.

Role & responsibilities

• Perform CAD study (CAD missing, CAD issues, Intersections)
• Candidate will be responsible for meshing Sheet metal, Plastic trims and Powertrain components as per Power train safety model build standards.
• Prepare input (CAD/BOM/NGD) data queries, connection/intersection, BOM etc.
• Apply BOM and applicable FE mechanisms/functions in the Safety models.
• Prepare the system model connections (Spot, Seam, adhesives, joints, Bolts) and analytical assemblies.
• Able to assign contacts interfaces, database (node/section/part/element).
• Perform de-penetration/intersection at vehicle level.
• He / She should be a quick learner and adapt to the process quickly.

• Perform mid plane, tetra and hexa meshing
• Perform quality checks for different profiles such as dyna, Abaqus, Nastran and Mold flow
• Clearing Intersection and penetration
• Perform interior connection for profiles such as LS Dyna, Abaqus and Nastran
• Exposure to automotive CAE meshing (sheet metal / plastics)
• Basic knowledge of scripting
