Job summary

Torrent Power is looking for an experienced Instrumentation and Control professional for a Supercritical thermal power project. The role focuses on technical specification development, document reviews, and vendor evaluation to ensure compliance with ISA, IEC, and IEEE standards.

Ideal candidates will have 5-10 years of experience in large-scale power plants, with a strong emphasis on DCS/PLC/SCADA and control system architectures. Travel for site visits and vendor meetings may be required.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in Supercritical thermal Power plant projects, Instrumentation and Control discipline.
• Experience with P&IDs, GA drawings, IO lists, cable schedules, instrument datasheets and control logic is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review technical specifications; suggest improvements to specs, templates and review processes.
• Review technical offers and documents; raise and follow up on technical queries for closure.
• Review and validate engineering documents (P&IDs, GA drawings, IO lists, cable schedules, instrument datasheets, control logic) to meet ISA/IEC/IEEE standards.
• Evaluate vendor offers for C&I systems and perform detailed technical assessments.
• Review DCS/PLC/SCADA engineering documents including logic diagrams, HMI philosophy, and communications architecture.
• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants and vendors for document approvals.
• Check interface requirements between BTG/BOP/Package systems to ensure compatibility.
• Participate in vendor meetings, internal reviews and technical discussions.
• Conduct site visits to verify execution progress and expediting work.
• Ensure timely approval of documents to meet project schedules.

Desirable 5-10 years of experience in Supercritical thermal Power plant project in Instrumentation and Control discipline

Role & responsibilities:

• Technical specification preparation/review; recommend improvements in specifications, templates and review processes.
• Technical offer/document review; identify gaps, inconsistencies and deviations; raise technical queries (TQ) and follow up for closure
• Review and validate engineering documents such as P&IDs, GA drawing, IO lists, cable schedule, hookup drawings, instrument datasheets, control logic & system architecture etc. and ensure adherence to Indian and international C&I standards such as ISA, IEC, IEEE and project-specific requirements, Industrial standards and Statutory requirement/guideline.
• Perform detailed technical evaluation of vendor offers for C&I systems
• Review DCS/PLC/SCADA engineering documents including logic diagrams, HMI philosophy, and communication architecture.
• Coordinate with internal team, consultant and vendors for document approvals.
• Check interface requirements between various systems (BTG/BOP/Package system)
• Participate in vendor meetings, internal reviews and technical discussions
• Site visit/vendor workplace visit to execute/expedite intended work
• Ensure timely approval of documents to meet project schedules.
• Maintain complete documentation of all reviews, communications, approval records, and compliance checklists.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies in DCS/PLC, instrumentation, and control systems.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Well versed in large sized Power Plant (>500 MW) Processes and its control system
• 5-10 years of experience in Supercritical thermal Power plant project in Instrumentation and Control discipline
• O&M is desirable experience is desirable
