Job summary

GMR Group seeks a senior GM – C&I to lead the complete Control & Instrumentation scope of a coal-based thermal power plant project. You will oversee engineering validation, procurement interfaces, erection supervision, DCS/PLC configuration, testing, and handover for BTG and BOP, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery.

The role requires deep technical expertise, stakeholder management, and the ability to deliver the plant to commercial operation with strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering in Instrumentation/Electronics/Control & Automation is required.
• Experience of 18+ years in large thermal power plant projects, with BTG/BOP Erection and commissioning.
• Hands-on DCS/PLC systems engineering and project management knowledge.
• Strong skills in safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end C&I scope for coal-based thermal power plant projects.
• Oversee engineering validation, procurement interfaces, erection supervision, testing, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams; manage cost, contracts, and resources.
• Ensure delivery to commercial operation within time, cost, and quality targets.
• Provide training and handover post-commissioning.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

• B.E./B.Tech in Instrumentation / Electronics / Control & Automation Engineering
• M.Tech or MBA (Project Management) preferred but not mandatory.
• Additional certifications in DCS/PLC or functional safety desirable.
• Strong expertise in DCS/PLC systems, instrumentation engineering, protection logic, control loops.
• Hands-on experience with BTG/BOP commissioning.
• Deep knowledge of ISA/IEC standards, SIL, cybersecurity, and functional safety.

Relevant Experience

Minimum 18+ years (at least 10+ years in large thermal power plant project execution) in C&I BTG & BOP Erection, Testing & Commissioning, DCS/PLC, Project Management
