Job summary

GUS Education India (GEI) is seeking an experienced BI Analyst/Developer to mentor the analytics team, design relational data models, and deliver self-service Power BI solutions. You will translate business requirements into robust dashboards, automate reporting, and collaborate with stakeholders across departments.

The role requires hands-on data modeling, ETL/ELT understanding, and strong communication skills to drive data-driven decisions across GEI's projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required

• Bachelor's or Master's in Business/IS/CS or related discipline preferred or required

Responsibilities

• Design relational databases and physical data models
• Create self-service Power BI reports and dashboards from multiple data sources
• Translate ad hoc data needs into actionable BI solutions
• Automate reporting processes to save time for analysis
• Collaborate with architects, developers, DBAs, and analysts to improve data and reporting
• Provide analytics expertise and mentor team members while remaining hands-on

• Model data strategies for metadata management, ODS and ETL/ELT environments

Nature of the Job

This is an individual contributor role that involves mentoring, training, and providing day-to-day guidance and oversight to team members to ensure team success. The successful candidate must be hands‑on, capable of prioritizing tasks, and able to assign or reassign work to team members based on business requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design relational databases to support enterprise applications and develop physical data models based on business requirements.
• Gather requirements from different business departments at UCW and translate them into self‑service reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• Understand ad hoc data requirements and convert them into effective reporting solutions.
• Automate and simplify reporting processes to create more time for in-depth analysis.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including system architects, software developers, database administrators, and design analysts, to improve business data and reporting capabilities.
• Provide business and technical expertise in analytics processes, tools, and applications.
• Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and business processes.
• Develop training materials, document processes, and conduct training sessions for users and team members.
• Develop strategies for data modeling, data design, data transportation, and implementation to support metadata management, operational data stores, and ETL/ELT environments.
• Create and test data models for business data, applications, database structures, and metadata tables to improve performance and operational efficiency.
• Research modern technologies, data modeling techniques, and information management systems, and recommend improvements to the organization's data architecture.
• Promote teamwork, inclusion, collaboration, and a sense of belonging among team members.

Desired Candidate Profile

Educational Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
• English must be one of the subjects studied, as specified in the job description.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred or required as applicable to the role.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in developing complex data models, reports, and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for calculations, measures, and analytical reporting.
• Experience connecting to multiple data sources, importing data, cleaning data, and transforming it for business intelligence.
• Knowledge of database management principles and hands‑on experience with SQL/MySQL databases.
• Ability to implement Row‑Level Security (RLS) in Power BI and understand application security models.
• Ability to translate business requirements into meaningful reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
• Strong dashboard design skills, with the ability to present data clearly and effectively.
• Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes is an advantage.
• Experience contributing to data warehouse development is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Python and/or R for data analysis and visualization is an advantage.
• Understanding of statistical techniques, including correlation and regression analysis.

Relevant Experience

• A minimum of 4+ years of experience in data‑related roles.
• Strong practical experience with Power BI, Excel, and SQL.
• Demonstrated experience in developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and self‑service analytics solutions.
• Experience in data modeling, data transformation, report automation, and business intelligence delivery is highly relevant.
