This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Intelligence, Director based in India.

Role Overview

The Business Intelligence Director will lead strategic reporting, data analytics, and business intelligence initiatives to support executive decision-making and drive organizational performance. This role combines technical expertise in modern data platforms with strong leadership, financial modeling, and business analysis capabilities. You will oversee the development of interactive dashboards, automated reporting workflows, and scalable data solutions that transform complex information into actionable insights. Working closely with senior leaders, clients, and cross-functional teams, you will identify business needs, evaluate market opportunities, and deliver data-driven recommendations. The position also involves financial forecasting, market research, economic impact assessments, and investment analysis across diverse projects and industries. Accountabilities

• Lead business intelligence strategy: Direct BI initiatives and reporting activities, collaborating with senior leadership and department managers to establish strategic priorities, align analytical capabilities with business objectives, and improve organizational decision-making.
• Develop advanced dashboards and reports: Design, build, and maintain insightful enterprise reports, interactive dashboards, and data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI to communicate business performance and support informed decisions.
• Manage data workflows and automation: Design and optimize automated data ingestion, validation, transformation, and report distribution workflows, ensuring accuracy, reliability, scalability, and strong performance.
• Develop reporting solutions: Create new reports, enhance existing reporting processes, and translate complex business requirements into effective analytical solutions and information delivery systems.
• Oversee data architecture and modeling: Establish efficient data models, optimized star schemas, and reliable data structures that support enterprise reporting and consistent analytical outputs.
• Manage data integration: Work with data from platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, Excel, CSV files, REST APIs, and Jira, integrating information from relational databases, cloud data warehouses, and enterprise systems.
• Drive financial and market analysis: Oversee market research, economic and demographic assessments, financial modeling, return-on-investment evaluations, and economic and fiscal impact studies to support strategic planning.
• Evaluate industry and competitive trends: Research market characteristics, economic conditions, demographic patterns, and developments across convention, sports, entertainment, and related industries to identify growth opportunities.
• Conduct stakeholder and field research: Engage clients, facility managers, event organizers, show promoters, and venue managers through interviews, surveys, focus groups, and on-site research to evaluate operational performance and market demand.
• Assess investment and development opportunities: Develop comparative analyses of proposed and existing facilities, prepare demand projections and financial forecasts, and evaluate potential funding requirements and expected returns.
• Develop predictive and financial models: Learn, apply, and improve proprietary forecasting models to estimate financial performance, economic impacts, and fiscal outcomes associated with proposed or existing facilities.
• Support strategic recommendations: Collaborate with senior staff to formulate evidence-based recommendations for communities and clients considering facility expansion, new construction, or other strategic investments.
• Maintain research assets and industry networks: Enhance databases, maintain industry contacts, and ensure that research resources remain accurate, relevant, and useful for ongoing projects.
• Establish documentation and training: Develop technical documentation, reporting guidelines, and training materials for system users and administrators to encourage effective adoption and consistent use of BI tools.
• Lead and develop teams: Provide leadership across a broad functional area, strengthen relationships with executives and major customers, and ensure teams deliver high-quality analytical work within agreed timelines.
• Perform additional responsibilities: Undertake other related duties as needed to support business priorities, client requirements, and evolving organizational objectives.

Requirements

• Education and professional experience: A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and at least 10 years of related professional experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Leadership and management: Previous management experience, with the ability to guide teams, coordinate complex initiatives, establish priorities, and deliver results across a broad functional area.
• Executive and client engagement: Proven ability to build and strengthen relationships with senior executives, major customers, and key stakeholders, supported by strong business judgment and client-facing skills.
• Microsoft Power BI expertise: Advanced proficiency in developing interactive dashboards and enterprise reports, including DAX, complex measures, filter contexts, and time-intelligence calculations.
• SQL and database programming: Strong SQL skills for querying, aggregating, transforming, and manipulating data in relational databases such as Snowflake, SQL Server, and Azure Synapse.
• Data modeling and transformation: Solid understanding of data modeling principles, particularly optimized star schemas, along with proficiency in Power Query and the M language for data ingestion, transformation, and cleansing.
• ETL/ELT and cloud data platforms: Experience with data pipelines and integration tools such as Azure Data Factory and dbt, as well as cloud-based data platforms, is highly preferred.
• Power BI Service administration: Knowledge of Power BI Service administration, app workspaces, deployment pipelines, and enterprise report publishing and management.
• Enterprise data sources: Experience working with multiple data sources, including Salesforce, SAP, Excel/CSV files, REST APIs, and Jira.
• Data warehouse technologies: Familiarity with platforms such as Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, and SQL Server, including their use in enterprise reporting and analytics environments.
• Analytical and financial modeling skills: Strong analytical capabilities and experience with financial modeling, forecasting, market research, competitive analysis, economic assessments, and return-on-investment evaluations.
• Research and information gathering: Excellent writing, telephone communication, internet research, interviewing, and survey analysis skills, with the ability to collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative information.
• Communication and presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings clearly and translate technical analysis into actionable business recommendations.
• Organization and execution: Strong organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy.
• Technical proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work effectively with enterprise reporting, data management, and analytical tools.
