Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced professional to drive In-Licensing opportunities for pharmaceutical formulations across the US and European markets.
The role will focus on identifying innovative and commercially viable products from international and domestic pharmaceutical companies, evaluating opportunities, negotiating commercial terms and successfully onboarding products into the company's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
In-Licensing
- Identify potential pharmaceutical products and portfolios available for in-licensing in the US and European markets.
- Develop relationships with innovators, generic companies, specialty pharma companies, biotech companies and product owners.
- Source products through industry databases, conferences, exhibitions, networking and direct business development.
- Identify products with strong commercial potential and fit with the company's business strategy.
- Evaluate product opportunities based on market size, competition, pricing, patent/exclusivity status, regulatory pathway and commercial feasibility.
Opportunity Evaluation
- Conduct preliminary commercial due diligence of identified products.
- Analyse market potential, competitors, pricing and expected sales opportunities.
- Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Medical, QA/QC, Finance and Legal teams for technical, regulatory and commercial evaluation.
- Prepare product evaluation reports and business cases for management approval.
Negotiation & Deal Closure
- Initiate and manage discussions with potential licensors and product owners.
- Prepare commercial proposals and negotiate key business terms.
- Coordinate negotiations relating to upfront payments, milestones, royalties, minimum purchase commitments, territory rights and supply terms.
- Coordinate with Legal for NDA, MOU, Term Sheet, License Agreement and Supply Agreement.
- Drive opportunities from initial identification through due diligence, negotiation and final agreement.
US & European Market Development
- Identify products suitable for commercialization in the USA and European markets.
- Monitor market trends, competitor launches, pricing and regulatory developments.
- Develop a strong pipeline of potential in-licensing opportunities.
- Attend international pharma exhibitions, conferences and business meetings to identify new opportunities.
Candidate Profile
Graduate/Postgraduate in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Management or related field.
5 - 10 years of experience in Pharma Business Development, In-Licensing, International Business or Strategic Partnerships.
- Strong experience in pharmaceutical formulations.
- Exposure to US and European pharmaceutical markets is highly preferred.
- Existing network with pharma companies/product owners will be an added advantage.
- Strong commercial understanding and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-management skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally for business meetings and pharma exhibitions.
