Job summary

Xelentra is seeking a Bending Operator/Setter for a top auto ancillary unit based in Coimbatore, near Kadathur Kunnathur – Sathy Road.

You will set up and operate CNC/NC press brake machines to produce sheet metal components as per drawings, ensuring accuracy and on-time production.

Qualifications

• ITI/ Diploma in Mechanical with relevant experience.
• 2–5 years in bending or sheet metal fabrication.
• Experience with MS/SS/Aluminium sheets is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC/NC press brake machines for various sheet metal components.
• Select and install punches, dies, and tooling according to component requirements.
• Set machine parameters: bend angle, bend sequence, back gauge position, tonnage, material thickness.
• Read engineering drawings and bending drawings; perform first-piece inspection.
• Calculate bend allowance and bend deduction; ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Operate machines safely and maintain production output.
• Identify and rectify bending defects: incorrect bend angle, dimension variation, cracking, deformation.

Experience: 2 – 5 Years

Package: 3.60 Lacs – 4.50 Lacs + Food and Accommodation

To set up and operate CNC/NC press brake bending machines for sheet metal components as per approved drawings and production requirements, ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality, and timely production

Key Responsibilities:

Set up CNC/NC Press Brake machines for different sheet metal components.

Select and install appropriate punches, dies, and tooling according to component requirements.

• Set machine parameters such as:
• Bend angle
• Bend sequence
• Back gauge position
• Tonnage
• Material thickness
• Read and understand engineering drawings, bending drawings, and work instructions.
• Perform first-piece inspection and ensure components meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Calculate and verify bend allowance, bend deduction, and bending sequence where required.
• Operate machines safely and maintain required production output.
• Identify and rectify common bending defects such as:
• Incorrect bend angle
• Dimension variation
• Cracking
• Deformation
• Tool marks

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of CNC/NC Press Brake machines
• Knowledge of bending tools and tooling selection
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and Angle Gauge
• Understanding of sheet metal bending processes
• Knowledge of bend allowance and bend deduction
• Ability to identify and correct bending defects
• Basic knowledge of CNC control panels and program selection/editing

Preferred Experience

• Experience in sheet metal fabrication / press brake bending
• Experience with CNC Press Brake machines
• Experience in setting machines for different component sizes and materials
• Experience with materials such as MS, SS, Aluminium, and GI sheets is preferred.
• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
