Job summary

Vsole Solar in Surat, India, is seeking a Battery Pack Design Engineer to design conceptual Li-ion battery packs/modules for ESS, EV, and BESS applications. You will create 3D CAD models and develop detailed drawings, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with standards.

You will prepare BOMs, supplier drawings, assembly and sub-assembly drawings, and production documents. Collaborate with electrical/BMS teams, support validation through prototyping and testing, and uphold safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 1+ years experience in battery pack design for Li-ion ESS/EV/BESS.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar).
• Understanding of battery pack architecture including cells, modules, BMS integration, thermal management, and enclosures.
• Experience with BOMs, assembly drawings, production documentation, and GD&T.

Job description

Design and develop conceptual 3D models of Li-ion battery packs/modules for ESS, EV, and BESS applications using CAD software.

Prepare and review supplier drawings for components (cells, busbars, enclosures, connectors, thermal management parts, etc.), ensuring design intent and specifications are met.

Prepare and maintain detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for battery packs, including component specifications, quantities, and supplier references.

Create detailed assembly drawings for complete battery pack systems, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with design standards.

Develop sub-assembly drawings for individual modules, racks, BMS integration, wiring harnesses, and mechanical structures.

Prepare and maintain production documents, including assembly process sheets, quality checklists, and mechanical testing protocols.

Collaborate with electrical/BMS teams to ensure mechanical design compatibility with battery management systems and safety requirements.

Support design validation through prototyping, testing, and analysis (thermal, structural, vibration, etc.).

Ensure designs comply with relevant safety and certification standards (UN38.3, IEC 62133, IEC 62619, AIS 156, IS 16046, etc.).

Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for component sourcing, drawing approvals, and design modifications.

Support troubleshooting and design improvements based on field feedback and failure analysis.

Maintain design documentation, revision control, and engineering change management (ECN/ECR processes).

Requirements

Bachelors/Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

1+ years of experience in battery pack design, preferably in Li-ion battery systems for ESS, EV, or BESS applications.Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar).

Strong understanding of battery pack architecture — cells, modules, BMS integration, thermal management, and mechanical enclosures.

Experience in preparing BOMs, assembly drawings, sub-assembly drawings, and production documentation.

Familiarity with GDamp;T (Geometric Dimensioning amp; Tolerancing) and drawing standards (ASME/ISO).

Knowledge of battery safety standards and certifications (UN38.3, IEC 62133/62619, IS 16046, AIS 156) is a plus.

Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
