Job summary

Softenger is seeking an experienced Backup Administrator to design, implement, monitor, and maintain enterprise backup environments with emphasis on Commvault and NetBackup. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, cloud and object storage integrations, and the ability to work in a 24x7 operational setting.

The ideal candidate will manage backup policies, retention, schedules, and recovery plans while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data protection and recovery objectives

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in Commvault Backup Administration.
• Experience managing backup environments across Windows and Linux/UNIX platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting for backup/restore failures, log analysis, and performance tuning.
• Experience in a 24x7 operations environment with incident management responsibilities.
• Knowledge of snapshot technologies, synthetic full backups, and incremental backups.
• Hands-on experience with Commvault Command Center and CommCell Console.
• Exposure to cloud and object storage integrations (S3-compatible platforms).
• Familiarity with tape libraries, media management, and archival solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform health checks and ensure backup job success through proactive monitoring.
• Apply Commvault patches and updates maintaining platform compatibility.
• Troubleshoot backup and restore failures across Windows, Linux, and UNIX.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and validation activities.
• Collaborate with Storage, Network, Server, and Infra teams to resolve issues.
• Generate daily, weekly, monthly reports on backup performance.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise backup environments while ensuring data protection, business continuity, and compliance with recovery objectives. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting skills, exposure to cloud and object storage integrations, and the ability to work in a 24x7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and support Commvault Backup Solutions with working knowledge of Veritas NetBackup.
• Design, implement, and manage backup policies, schedules, retention strategies, and recovery plans.

• Apply Commvault patches, upgrades, and updates while maintaining platform compatibility.
• Troubleshoot backup and restore failures across Windows, Linux, and UNIX environments.
• Maintain backup documentation, SOPs, recovery procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and recovery validation activities.
• Collaborate with Storage, Network, Server, and Infrastructure teams to resolve backup-related issues.
• Support 24x7 operations, including participation in on-call rotations and critical incident handling.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on backup performance, capacity utilization, and failure trends.

Mandatory Skills

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in Commvault Backup Administration.
• Strong experience in backup configuration, scheduling, policy creation, and retention management.
• Experience managing backup environments across Windows and Linux/UNIX platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for backup and restore failures, log analysis, and performance tuning.
• Experience working in a 24x7 operations environment with incident management responsibilities.
• Knowledge of snapshot technologies, synthetic full backups, and incremental backup strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Commvault Command Center and CommCell Console.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of Veritas NetBackup administration.
• Experience with object storage integrations and S3-compatible platforms.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud backup solutions.

• Exposure to Kubernetes backup and recovery management.
• Experience with ServiceNow (SNOW) or similar ITSM tools.

Preferred Qualifications
