Job summary

Micro Labs is seeking a Backup Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team in Bangalore. The role covers backup management, data restoration, troubleshooting, DR testing, and compliance reporting.

The candidate should have a graduate or postgraduate degree and about 1+ year in backup administration or similar IT roles. Working location is Corporate Office, Bangalore, with a 6-day week and the 2nd & 3rd Saturday off.

Responsibilities

• Configure, monitor, and maintain backup infrastructure (disk-to-disk, tape, virtual tape, and cloud).
• Perform routine file-level and application-level restores, including databases and VMs.
• Identify and resolve backup failures, performance issues, and storage bottlenecks.
• Develop, maintain, and execute regular disaster recovery tests and drills.
• Ensure data retention policies are met and provide reports on capacity and job success rates.

Backup Management:

• Configure, monitor, and maintain backup infrastructure (disk-to-disk, tape, virtual tape, and cloud).

Data Restoration:

• Perform routine file-level and application-level restores, including databases and virtual machines.

Troubleshooting:

• Identify and resolve backup failures, performance issues, and storage bottlenecks.

Disaster Recovery (DR):

• Develop, maintain, and execute regular, scheduled disaster recovery tests and drills.

Compliance & Reporting:

• Ensure data retention policies are met, and provide regular reports to management regarding capacity and job success rates.

Infrastructure Maintenance:

• Manage and patch backup software and hardware (e.g., servers, VTL).

Qualifications:Experience:

• Typically, 1+ years in backup administration or similar IT infrastructure roles.

Education:

• Graduate / Postgraduate in science or engineering stream, Computer Science / Information Science background is preferred.
