Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc is seeking an experienced Lead Node.js Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and enterprise-grade solutions. You will mentor team members, drive architectural decisions, and deliver secure, high-quality software using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and cloud technologies.

You will build REST and GraphQL APIs, implement authentication, optimize performance, and collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to ensure robust deployments on AWS with CI/CD

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience building large-scale applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Expertise in GraphQL for API design and development.
• Background in application architecture and performance optimization.
• Skills in testing and cloud deployments.
• English proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain server-side applications using Node.js and NestJS, writing reusable, testable, scalable, and efficient backend code
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs for frontend services and third-party integrations
• Build secure authentication and authorization systems using JWT and role-based access control
• Integrate external services, APIs, and cloud-based solutions, while implementing logging, monitoring, caching, and error-handling mechanisms
• Optimize API performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks to ensure high availability and responsiveness
• Design and maintain database schemas and data models, working extensively with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Optimize database queries and indexing strategies to ensure data integrity, scalability, and high-performance data access
• Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, leveraging AWS services for hosting, storage, monitoring, and scalability
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline implementation and deployment automation, monitoring application performance and troubleshooting production issues
• Write comprehensive unit tests, ensure high test coverage, conduct code reviews, and enforce development best practices using tools such as ESLint and SonarQube
• Apply frontend and backend security best practices to prevent and mitigate Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF/XSRF), and CORS vulnerabilities, including secure JWT token management and authentication workflows
• Design scalable and maintainable software architectures applying SOLID principles and design patterns such as Singleton Pattern, mentor junior and mid-level developers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Designers, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams
