DexCare is seeking a Senior Back End Engineer, Tech Lead to expand the DexCare platform. You will drive architectural decisions for backend systems, define API standards, and mentor engineers across the team while collaborating with product managers and solution architects.

You will build and scale core services, work with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and data stores, and contribute to on-call rotations, ensuring reliable delivery for large clients in a fast-growing startup environment.

About the Role

DexCare is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer, Tech Lead who will expand the efforts around the DexCare platform. If you are an experienced back‑end engineer who is excited about getting in on the ground floor of a fast‑growing startup with a well‑established team and multiple large and respected clients, this might be the opportunity for you! As an engineer in this role, you will be a key part of building and scaling our core services and data infrastructure from the ground up. You will drive architectural decisions for back‑end systems, define API standards, and mentor engineers across the team. Candidates should be prepared to interact daily with other engineers, as well as product managers, product designers, and solution architects.

What You’ll Do

• Be a team player and successfully get buy‑in from your team as well as champion the team’s back‑end strategy
• Proficiency at building out highly testable services with strong contracts
• Proficient with test automation frameworks and validating across an array of code configurations
• Strong experience configuring and maintaining a SaaS solution built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kubernetes (including Helm) with Docker containers
• Comfort designing and interacting with SQL and NoSQL databases, including DB schema changes and migrations
• Participate in on‑call rotation

What You’ll Bring

• 7 years acting as a team lead with demonstrable experience driving architectural solutions and mentoring peers
• 7 years of relevant on‑the‑job experience shipping enterprise software using SOA, and delivering solutions end to end
• 5 years building out services using TypeScript with Node.js
• 5 years building out services using Python
• 7 years of working with a strongly typed, object‑oriented language
• 3 years of experience building platforms utilizing message queues and pub/sub models (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS)
• 3 years designing and maintaining RESTful and event‑driven APIs at scale
• Experience designing and building agentic AI systems, including orchestration of multi‑step AI workflows, tool use, and integration of large language models into production back‑end services
• Experience using Claude Code for AI‑assisted development, including leveraging agentic workflows to accelerate test authoring, framework development, and code reviews

Preferred Experience

• Experience influencing other teams’ roadmap and architectural designs
• Experience using logging and metric tools such as Splunk and DataDog with focus on monitoring and improving system uptime and performance
