Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS Database Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale migrations to AWS.

You will design robust, secure database solutions using RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL, guide customers through modernization, and oversee migration waves, cutovers, and validation across multi-national teams. The role requires deep AWS database services expertise, hands-on migration experience, and strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 12-16 years of general IT experience.
• 12+ years of experience architecting enterprise-scale database solutions on AWS.
• Deep expertise in Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of AWS DMS and SCT.
• Experience leading large-scale and heterogeneous database migration programs.
• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar databases.
• Understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security, encryption, monitoring, backup, and DR concepts.
• Strong stakeholder management, consulting, architecture documentation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher.
• Nice to have AWS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing database workloads and identify applications and databases suitable for migration and modernization.
• Define end-to-end database migration and modernization strategy, architecture and roadmap on AWS.
• Design scalable, highly available, resilient and secure database solutions using RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and other AWS database services.
• Architect heterogeneous database migrations from on-premises to AWS using DMS and SCT.
• Define migration patterns, wave planning, cutover strategies, rollback approaches, validation and post-migration health checks.
• Lead database performance, scalability, security, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring and operational design.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, DevOps and business teams to address migration dependencies and risks.
• Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership throughout migration and modernization programs.
