Job summary

Automotive ECU Software Validation and System Test Engineer

Position : Engineer

Experience: 5 Years - 7 Years

Expected Level : Experienced Validation Engineer / Module Owner

Job Overview :

We are looking for an Automotive ECU Software and System Test Engineer who will be responsible for software verification, system integration testing, vehicle-level validation, and test documentation for automotive electronic control units.

The role requires hands‑on experience with software test tools, HILS or bench test environments, vehicle communication analysis tools, and customer issue response.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Software Unit and Integration Testing

• Perform software unit testing and integration testing for automotive ECU software.
• Conduct static and dynamic software verification using validation tools.
• Analyze software defects and verify countermeasures through regression testing.
• Review software requirements and develop test cases based on functional specifications.
• Measure and manage test coverage where applicable.

2. System Integration and Qualification Testing

• Perform system integration and qualification testing for automotive control units.
• Operate HILS equipment and conduct bench tests for ECU validation.
• Verify ECU functions under various vehicle conditions, including power mode, communication, input/output signal, and diagnostic conditions.
• Analyze system-level issues and support root cause investigation.

3. Testing and Customer Support

• Conduct vehicle-level testing using CANoe and related diagnostic or communication tools.
• Analyze CAN/LIN communication logs and verify ECU behavior in actual vehicle environments.
• Support customer test events, issue reproduction, and field issue analysis.
• Respond to customer requests and provide technical support during off-site testing activities.

4. Test Case Development and Documentation

• Develop and maintain test cases, test procedures, and test specifications.
• Prepare test reports, defect reports, validation evidence, and related deliverables.
• Manage test results and support traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results.
• Prepare documents required for ASPICE, functional safety, SPQA audits, and customer reviews.

Qualifications :

1. Required Qualifications

• Experience or understanding of automotive ECU software development or verification.
• Knowledge of software unit testing, integration testing, and system validation.
• Understanding of automotive communication protocols such as CAN and LIN.
• Ability to analyze software issues using logs, test results, and debugging tools.
• Capability to develop test cases based on software and system requirements.
• Good documentation and communication skills.

2. Preferred Qualifications

• ISTQB certification holder.
• Experience with software verification tools such as CANoe, VectorCAST, Polyspace, MATLAB, Trace32, or similar tools.
• Experience with software validation environments such as MIL, SIL, or HIL.
• Experience with HILS equipment operation and bench testing.
• Experience in ASPICE, functional safety, or SPQA audit deliverables and interview support.
• Experience in customer issue response or vehicle-level validation.
• Knowledge of diagnostic communication, DTC, DID, or UDS is a plus.
