Job summary

DWF Law LLP is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to design and maintain automated UI and API tests using Playwright in a modern, AI-assisted testing environment. You will build scalable frameworks, write robust test scripts and integrate with Azure DevOps within an Agile team.

You will collaborate with developers, product owners and testers, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and drive continuous improvement in automation practices across the QA function.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of software testing and automation experience.
• At least 3 years hands-on Playwright automation experience.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience building Page Object Model and component-based frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated UI and API test scripts using Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Develop and enhance scalable, component-based automation frameworks with Page Object Model.
• Use AI-assisted tools to support test design and script development.
• Create automated test scenarios for functional, regression, integration, end-to-end and smoke testing.
• Investigate test failures using traces, screenshots, logs, and AI-assisted analysis.
• Implement resilient automation to reduce maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated UI and API test scripts using Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Develop and enhance scalable, component-based and Page Object Model automation frameworks
• Use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Playwright Codegen and AI-assisted debugging solutions to support test design and script development
• Create automated test scenarios for functional, regression, integration, end-to-end and smoke testing
• Investigate test failures using Playwright traces, screenshots, logs, videos and AI-assisted analysis
• Implement resilient and self-healing automation approaches to reduce maintenance
• Develop Bash and PowerShell scripts for environment setup, execution, scheduling, reporting and CI/CD activities
• Configure, monitor and optimise Azure DevOps pipelines using YAML
• Participate in code reviews and promote automation coding standards and best practices
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners and testers during sprint activities
• Support test reporting and integrations with Azure DevOps, TestRail and Teams notifications
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on AI-driven QA and automation efficiency

What will help you succeed in this role?

• 4–7 years of experience in software testing and automation
• At least 3 years of hands‑on Playwright automation experience
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript
• Experience building and maintaining Page Object Model and component-based frameworks
• Strong knowledge of Azure Repos, Git branching, pull requests and code reviews
• Experience configuring Azure DevOps pipelines using YAML
• Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines
• Hands‑on experience with Bash and PowerShell scripting
• Experience with API testing using Playwright API, Postman or similar tools
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis capabilities
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline
