Job summary

SHF Design Engineering in Chennai is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive Substation Automation projects. You will implement large HMI and SCADA systems using IEC 61850 standards, design SAS architecture, and prepare FAT/SAT procedures.

The role requires hands-on experience with IED integration from ABB, Siemens, and Schneider, plus PRP/HSR networks, and server-client communications. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in integrating IEDs from ABB, Alstom, Siemens, SEL, ZIV and Schneider make bay control devices and protection relays.
• Hands-on experience with IEC 61850, HSR/PRP networks and SCADA protocols.
• Knowledge of VLAN, GOOSE, MMS configuration on various IEDs.

Responsibilities

• Implement large HMI and SCADA system projects using IEC 61850 standards for Substation Automation System.
• Design and develop substation automation system.
• Prepare automation documentation like SAS Architecture, Functional description, BOM etc.
• Scheme Checking of Automation Panel Drawings.
• Perform FAT as per FAT procedure.
• Perform SAT as Lead Engineer as per SAT procedure.
• Manage the project within cost and time.
• Coordinate with all departments for smooth workflow.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Implementing large HMI and SCADA system projects using in IEC 61850 Standards for Substation Automation System.
• To design and develop substation automation system.
• To prepare automation documentation like SAS Architecture, Functional description, BOM etc.
• Scheme Checking of Automation Panel Drawings
• To perform factory acceptance test for Automation system., as per FAT procedure
• To perform site acceptance test for Automation system etc., as per SAT procedure as Lead Engineer
• To manage the project within cost and time.
• To co-ordinate with all department for smooth workflow.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in integration of IEDs from ABB, Alstom, Siemens, SEL, ZIV and Schneider make bay control devices and protection relays
• Implementing large HMI and SCADA system projects using in IEC 61850 Standards for Substation Automation System.
• Understanding and hands on experience with communication using PRP, RSTP, HSR etc.
• Hand-on experience on SCADA systems protocols IEC 61850, EC 60870-5-101/ 104, SNMP, SNTP, and MODBUS RTU/ASCII TCP/IP communications.
• Experience in VLAN, GOOSE, and Server-Client communication (MMS) configuration on SEL, ABB, SIEMENS, GE, ZIV, Schneider and ALSTOM IEDs.
• Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and generation systems
• Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principals, practices, and procedures, of protection, integration, and automation applications for electric power systems
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally
