Job summary

Changepond Technologies in Chennai is seeking an Automation Engineer (Industrial) with 5–10 years of experience to develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial automation systems. The role involves designing HMI/SCADA applications, establishing robust communication between PLCs and SCADA systems, and preparing automation documentation.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and proficiency in common industrial protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/E&I/ECE.
• 5–10 years of experience in automation projects.
• Experience in large-scale projects with many I/O signals.
• Hands-on PLC, HMI and SCADA development and integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial systems.
• Design and develop HMI/SCADA applications, screens, alarms, trends, reports and control interfaces.
• Prepare PLC, HMI and SCADA software architecture based on project requirements.
• Establish communication between PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and field devices.
• Work with Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA/DA, Fiber Optics.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, communication and control-system issues.
• Review electrical/control panel drawings and support wiring/I/O validation.
• Prepare I/O lists, control philosophies, sequence of operations, functional specs and automation documentation.

Job Description:

• Working with Electrical Substation automation project or Oil & Gas Projects or Cement projects will be added advantage.
• Hand-on-Experience in Hydralics / Pneumatic circuits will be given preference.
• Please note that candidates with prior experience in Special Purpose Machines (SPM) will not be considered for this position.
