Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in Chennai seeks a Mech/Automobile engineer with 3–5 years of experience to drive sheet metal component development, supplier processes, and PPAP readiness. You will coordinate across stakeholders, select vendors, and ensure manufacturability and quality for production readiness.

Strong knowledge of SAP, APQP, and PSW is advantageous. The role emphasizes collaboration, planning, and problem-solving to meet project milestones within MPDS targets.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of sheet metal components and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with APQP/PPAP concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables and supplier manufacturing process for sheet metal components.
• Finalize FTG requirements and ensure proper deployment.
• Develop correct quality parts to support production levels via APQP.
• Study drawings to confirm manufacturability.
• Select vendors per policy and plan supplier processes.
• Coordinate with all stakeholders and cover PPAP/PSW elements.
• Conduct PPAP trials, check parts, and clear PPAP.
• Meet MPDS gateways for project targets.
• Involve in project feasibility studies and ensure 100% GR acceptance post-PPAP.

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

1. 1. Thorough in technical knowledge in engineering deliverables & Supplier Manufacturing Process for Sheet Metal components.
2. 2. FTG Requirements finalization and their appropriate deployment
3. 3. Develop right quality of parts to support desired production levels following APQP process
4. 4. Study the drawing and to confirm the manufacturability.
5. 5. Select the vendor as per guiding policy for the part.
6. 6. Plan process at supplier end and to prepare PFC and control plan
7. 7. Co-ordinating with all stake holders
8. 8. Cover applicable elements of PPAP and PSW
9. 9. PPAP trial run, check the parts and clear PPAP
10. 10. Meet the Gateways as per MPDS (Mahindra Product Development System) targets for projects.
11. 11. Get actively involved in project feasibility studies.
12. 12. Ensure 100% GR acceptance for the parts after PPAP approval
13. 13. Ensure on-time closure of DFM, VOB, TKO, etc.
14. 14. Inter-personal skills to Manage internal & external stake holders
15. 15. Develop and deploy processes and tools to ensure, monitor and manage the component development at supplier end.
16. 16. Supplier Performance improvements- QCD Targets
17. 17. Support CRUSADE initiatives
18. 18. Drive all IMCR/ Ideation initiatives
19. 19. Problem Solving through 8D Approach
20. 20. To support pricing cell in cost estimation activities component wise & details costing of the components/new part
