Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Manager - Engineering for the Rudrapur Plant within the Farm Division.

You will drive central process engineering activities, design and optimise manufacturing processes, and collaborate with production, QA, and maintenance to align engineering with business goals. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of manufacturing experience, with 3–4 years in process/ Manufacturing Engineering, and preferably exposure to agricultural machinery or heavy

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Support equipment integration, validation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and procurement to ensure material availability.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance in process design.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians and present reports to leadership.

As an Assistant Manager - Engineering in the Engineering Services Department at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in driving the Central Process Engineering activities for the Rudrapur Plant within the Farm Division. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and optimising manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and maintenance to ensure alignment of engineering practices with business goals.

  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing operations.
  • Lead initiatives to identify process bottlenecks and implement technical solutions that enhance throughput and reduce costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance product quality and process stability.
  • Support the integration of new equipment and technologies, ensuring seamless process validation and knowledge transfer.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure availability of critical materials and components as per production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout process design and execution.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on process performance metrics and project status to senior leadership.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering. A strong foundational knowledge in mechanical systems, manufacturing technologies, and process design principles is essential to succeed in this role.

The educational qualification should be complemented by an understanding of current industry standards and practices, along with proficiency in relevant engineering software tools. Continuous learning and professional development in emerging technologies and process innovations are encouraged to stay ahead in the competitive manufacturing sector.

Preferred qualifications also include certifications or training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Project Management, which will facilitate effective process optimisation and leadership within the engineering team.

General Experience

Candidates should bring 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector, with a strong preference for those who have spent 3 to 4 years focused in Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering roles. Experience in the agricultural machinery or related heavy equipment manufacturing industry will be considered advantageous.

Demonstrated expertise in managing end-to-end process engineering projects, from conceptualisation through to implementation and continuous improvement, is expected. The candidate should have a proven track record of successfully collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet production targets and quality standards.

Experience with health and safety compliance, cost reduction initiatives, and the ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment are important. Prior exposure to working in large plants with complex assembly processes will enhance the ability to adapt swiftly and contribute effectively.
