Role Summary
The Operations Engineer – Lime Calcination Plant is responsible for operating and monitoring single or twin shaft lime kilns to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production. The role focuses on maintaining kiln process parameters, achieving quality targets, minimizing downtime, and leading shift-level execution for smooth plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Kiln Operations & Process Control
- Supervise and control operations of single and twin shaft kilns to meet production and quality targets
- Monitor kiln temperature profiles, fuel ratio, airflow, draft, and other critical process parameters
- Ensure stable calcination process and optimal fuel efficiency
Quality & Performance Management
- Ensure lime quality meets required specifications
- Monitor impact of raw material quality on kiln performance
- Coordinate with Quality team for sampling, testing, and corrective actions
Shift Management & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain operational records, shift reports, and statutory documentation
- Lead and guide kiln operators and supporting staff during shifts
- Ensure proper handover between shifts for continuous operation
- Identify and resolve issues related to raw material feeding, calcination, and discharge systems
- Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive shutdown planning
- Support commissioning activities, performance optimization, and process improvements
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental norms
- Promote safe operating practices and hazard identification
- Support compliance with statutory and plant-level operational requirements
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
Experience & Industry Background
- 4–6 years of experience in lime or cement plant operations
- Hands‑on experience operating single or twin shaft vertical kilns
- Strong understanding of calcination process and kiln operations
- Knowledge of fuel efficiency and raw material quality impact
- Ability to analyze process data and take corrective actions
- Leadership capability to manage shift teams
- Proactive approach toward safety, quality, and productivity
