Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to drive DFA-aligned assembly processes, develop plant layouts and tooling, and lead the end-to-end setup for new models at the Farm Division in Nagpur.

Ideal candidates will have 5–8 years in manufacturing, with hands-on experience in DFA, PFMEA, SPC, Six Sigma, and process planning, plus capability to coordinate training and APQP activities during production launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Production or related field.
• 5–8 years in manufacturing with emphasis on DFA, process planning and plant layout.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement DFA principles to ensure efficient assembly processes.
• Develop plant layouts and tooling solutions including fixtures, jigs, and gauges.
• Design, procure, install, and commission assembly and material handling equipment.
• Prepare Process FMEA, PFD, Control Plans and SOPs for new models.
• Lead training for new model assembly processes and ensure manufacturing execution alignment.
• Audit processes and support APQP/ SOVP closure activities during production phases.
• Formulate manufacturing strategies for new products including make-vs-buy analysis.
• Coordinate with plant teams to launch production efficiently and safely.

Job description

• Evaluation of product design /concepts/Drawing for ease of assembly & disassembly using virtual DFA technique
• Plant layouts preparation, Design & development of assembly processes, Finalization & development of fixtures,tooling, gauges etc.
• Design, Development, procurement, installation and commissioning of assembly & material handling facilities,equipment’s
• Preparation of Process FMEA, PFD, Control Plans & SOP for new models
• Prepare, execute & impart training to manufacturing/QA for new model assembly process
• Establish & monitor assembly process during Gen-1/Gen-2/Seeding/Pilot batches
• Audits of processes and system during SOVP & support for APPAP closure
• Formulation of Mfg. strategy proposals for new product.Workout mfg. investment for new products
• Provide input for assembly make Vs. buy proposals
• Conduct DFA & ensure implementation of input.
• Co-ordination with Plant Team for Initial phase of Productionizing
• CME SPOC at Plant

General Experience

Critical Experience

Critical experience for this position includes:

• Proven expertise in evaluating and implementing Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, ensuring product designs facilitate efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality assembly processes.
• Successful track record in developing detailed Plant Layouts, assembly processes, and tooling solutions—including fixtures, jigs, and gauges—with a strong emphasis on ergonomics, safety, and production throughput.
• Demonstrated ability in the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of assembly and material handling equipment, with an understanding of the technical specifications and operational constraints.
• Extensive experience in conducting Process FMEA, creating Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that meet stringent quality and regulatory standards.
• Hands-on experience leading training programs for new model assembly processes, ensuring alignment between design intent and manufacturing execution.
• Hands-on involvement in conducting audits and supporting APQP closure activities during key production phases such as SOVP.
• Expertise in manufacturing strategy formulation for new products including investment analysis, make-versus-buy assessments, and cross-functional coordination with plant teams during production launch phases.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, serving as the central liaising point (SPOC) between manufacturing engineering teams and plant operations.
