Job summary

Speed Global is seeking a Piping Estimation Engineer for our Pune district operations. The role focuses on engineering calculations for pipe sizes and thicknesses, along with preparing competitive cost estimates for piping works in water treatment plants.

Requirements include 8–10+ years in piping design, a mechanical engineering degree, and a solid grasp of ASME/API standards. Leadership and team collaboration skills are essential for this position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations for piping design like pipe thickness and size.
• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for piping works and pipe support.
• Study RFQ / Tender documents and highlight technical and commercial risks.
• Prepare BOQ, BOM, MTO, and cost summary sheets.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for piping systems (DI, HDPE, MS, SS, PVC, GRP).
• Coordinate with vendors for updated prices, lead times and technical compliance.
• Develop complete cost breakdown: material, labor, subcontracting, fabrication, testing, hydrotesting, painting, installation.
• Perform rate analysis based on manpower productivity and project conditions.

Job description

• Perform Engineering calculations for piping Design like pipe thickness and size.
• The Piping Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for piping works & pipe support related to ETP, WWTP, WTP & STP plants.
• Requires strong technical knowledge of piping materials, fabrication, installation, and industry standards used in water infrastructure projects.
• Study RFQ / Tender documents and highlight technical and commercial risks. Prepare pre-bid queries (PBQ); participate in pre-bid meetings and capture clarifications / deviations. Understand hydraulic requirements and pipeline routing for WTP/WWTP installations.
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), BOM, material take-offs (MTO), and cost summary sheets.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for piping systems including DI, HDPE, MS, SS, PVC, and GRP pipelines. Estimate quantities for piping, fittings, valves, supports, accessories, and related civil/mechanical interfaces.
• Coordinate with vendors/suppliers for updated prices, lead times, and technical compliance. Request and evaluate vendor quotations for pipes, valves, mechanical equipment, and fabrication works.
• Develop complete cost breakdown: material, labor, subcontracting, fabrication, testing, hydrotesting, painting, and installation.
• Perform rate analysis based on manpower productivity, site conditions, and project complexity. Prepare estimation reports for management review.
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques, welding processes, pressure testing, and piping supports. Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and estimation software (if required).
