Job summary

Trane Technologies in Bengaluru seeks an Associate Tech Lead Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for HVAC products. You will handle New Product Development, component engineering, and VAVE projects within Electrical Engineering.

You will lead the design of electrical systems, sizing and selection of components, and ensure compliance with IEC/UL/NEC/NFPA and country standards, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in Product Development and Electrical Systems development as per MRD, PRD and Regulatory Requirements (RR).
• Proficient in Electrical Component Specifications, Sizing, Selection, Analysis and Testing (Functional & Reliability) for LV/MV components, motors, and control systems.
• Knowledge of electrical design tools and PLM systems.
• Familiarity with safety standards and country electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, design, and develop electrical systems, low-voltage control panels, and wiring harnesses.
• Sizing, selection and qualification of components per IEC, UL, NEC, NFPA and country standards.
• Perform trade-off analyses for performance, cost, quality, and flexibility.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (Structural, Electronics, Software, Reliability).
• Coordinate with Supply Management to source and qualify components and assemblies.
• Foster innovation and analytical thinking within the team.

Position Summary

Associate Tech Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of Electrical systems for HVAC products. Responsibilities include New Product Development (NPD), Component Engineering, and Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) project development in Electrical Engineering.

Major Responsibilities

• Lead, design, and develop electrical systems, low-voltage electrical control panels, and Cable & wiring harnesses.
• Electrical Component Sizing, Selection, and Qualification as per UL, IEC, and country-specific regulatory requirements.
• Make trade-off analysis of circuits and components with respect to best performance, Low cost, High quality, and design flexibility.
• To foster an environment conducive to innovation & Change with good Analytical Thinking.
• Work along with Multi-Disciplinary (Structural, Electronics, Software and Reliability) Team to develop System or Component Level Functional, Reliability & Qualification Requirements and Design.
• Work closely with Supply Management to Source and Evaluate / Qualify the purchased Components and Assemblies.

Essential Skills

• Experience in Product Development and Electrical Systems development as per Marketing Requirement Document (MRD), Product Requirement Document (PRD) and Regulatory Requirements (RR)
• Proficient in Electrical Component Specifications, Sizing, Selection, Analysis, Testing (Functional & Reliability) of the following:
• Electrical Components: Switchgear and Control components, Primary and secondary protection devices, Transformer, Power Supply
• LV Motors (AC Induction, Brush DC, BLDC, Stepper, Servo, Permanent Magnet)
• Application development - LV Motor Starters and Controllers (X-Link, Star/Delta, Soft Starters, Variable Frequency Drives)
• Proficient in Design and development of low-voltage and medium-voltage control panels
• Proficient in product-level electrical system design, Wiring & Harness Design
• Good understanding of safety and protection standards and their implementation
• Thorough understanding of Global Electrical Codes (IEC, UL, NEC, NFPA) and Country Standards (UL and CSA)
• Knowledge of PLM and Bill of Materials preparation.
• Knowledge of electrical design tools - preferred
