Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks an Associate Tech Lead Engineer to drive the design and development of electrical systems for HVAC products. You will contribute to NPD, component engineering and VAVE, ensuring robust, compliant solutions.

You will work with cross-functional teams on system requirements, perform trade-offs, and ensure safety and reliability per IEC/UL/NEC standards. This role requires collaboration with supply management and multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in product development and electrical systems in line with MRD/PRD/RR.
• Proficient in sizing, selection and analysis of switchgear, protection devices and transformers.
• Design of low/medium-voltage control panels; wiring and harness design.
• Knowledge of IEC/UL/NEC/NFPA codes and country standards.

Position Summary

Associate Tech Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of Electrical systems for HVAC products. Responsibilities include New Product Development (NPD), Component Engineering, and Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) project development in Electrical Engineering.

Major Responsibilities

• Lead, design, and develop electrical systems, low-voltage electrical control panels, and Cable & wiring harnesses.
• Electrical Component Sizing, Selection, and Qualification as per UL, IEC, and country-specific regulatory requirements.
• Make trade-off analysis of circuits and components with respect to best performance, Low cost, High quality, and design flexibility.
• To foster an environment conducive to innovation & Change with good Analytical Thinking.
• Work along with Multi-Disciplinary (Structural, Electronics, Software and Reliability) Team to develop System or Component Level Functional, Reliability & Qualification Requirements and Design.
• Work closely with Supply Management to Source and Evaluate / Qualify the purchased Components and Assemblies.

• Experience in Product Development and Electrical Systems development as per Marketing Requirement Document (MRD), Product Requirement Document (PRD) and Regulatory Requirements (RR)
• Proficient in Electrical Component Specifications, Sizing, Selection, Analysis, Testing (Functional & Reliability) of the following: Electrical Components: Switchgear and Control components, Primary and secondary protection devices, Transformer, Power Supply LV Motors (AC Induction, Brush DC, BLDC, Stepper, Servo, Permanent Magnet) Application development - LV Motor Starters and Controllers (X-Link, Star/Delta, Soft Starters, Variable Frequency Drives)
• Proficient in Design and development of low-voltage and medium-voltage control panels
• Proficient in product-level electrical system design, Wiring & Harness Design
• Good understanding of safety and protection standards and their implementation
• Thorough understanding of Global Electrical Codes (IEC, UL, NEC, NFPA) and Country Standards (UL and CSA)
• Knowledge of PLM and Bill of Materials preparation.
• Knowledge of electrical design tools – preferred
