Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

In this role, you will perform procedures as assigned on attestation and consulting engagements and assist with any additional tasks necessary to complete the engagements. Weaver’s ECS practice is committed to guiding businesses through compliance with evolving regulations, including those governed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, and the California Air Resources Board, among other state and provincial authorities. Environmental programs within ECS are focused on managing human impact on the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting sustainability. The team brings extensive expertise in transportation fuel regulations, covering both petroleum-based and renewable fuels.

Core competency is the demonstrated ability to carry out the primary responsibilities of the job, which are reflected in the essential duties outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Develop an understanding of technical laws and regulations related to the ECS practice (i.e. EPA, , CARB, etc.) and the ability to research issues and provide management with coherent information on routine, non-complex matters.
  • Work closely with all experienced team members to identify and resolve issues encountered in performance of assignments through effective and timely communication.
  • Consistently perform and take ownership of assigned areas, small projects, and small engagements under the supervision of more experienced team members.
  • Assist with consulting and attestation engagements performed within the ECS practice, work paper preparation, and/or other reports.
  • Keep supervisors apprised of engagement and scheduling issues on a timely basis.
  • Work with direct report manager to develop an appropriate plan of professional development and take responsibility to ensure that plan is executed.
  • Has the goal to progress professionally by working toward self-determined career goals.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the client’s operations and regulatory compliance systems.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship and demonstrate effective communication with client personnel at appropriate levels.
  • Maintain appropriate professionalism in client and team interactions.
  • Has effective and clear workpaper and documentation techniques.
  • Demonstrate mindfulness of budget and deadline considerations and strive for adherence.
  • In reference to carrying out their professional responsibilities, be familiar with and adhere to the relevant ethical requirements of the AICPA, as outlined in the Code of Professional Conduct, as well as those of state accountancy boards and professional societies for which any licenses are held.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Advanced degree preferred (i.e., Master of Business Administration (MBA) with concentration in Accounting)
  • Semi-qualified Chartered Accountant/ACCA/CPA
Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Sufficient technical skills to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in US public accounting (assurance or advisory), project management, and/or business administration
  • Experience with transportation fuels regulations preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to RINs, EMTS and/or experience with other credit trading regulations and trading platforms is preferred but not required.
