Upstox in Mumbai is seeking an Associate Director - Program Manager to bridge technical execution and business strategy. You will oversee complex, cross-functional engineering programs, ensuring delivery with precision, speed, and quality across the SDLC.

The role requires a strong technical foundation, expertise in Agile/Scrum, and the ability to align program roadmaps with the CTO and VP of Engineering. You will lead stakeholders, manage dependencies, and define frameworks to improve velocity

Qualifications

The Role: Associate Director - Program Manager

As an Associate Director , you will be the bridge between technical execution and business strategy. You will oversee complex, cross-functional engineering programs, ensuring that our technology initiatives are delivered with precision, speed, and high quality. This role is designed for a leader with a strong technical foundation who can navigate the complexities of the SDLC lifecycle and drive high-impact engineering results.

What You'll Own

• Tech Delivery Leadership: Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex technical programs, ensuring they meet business objectives and are delivered on schedule.
• SDLC Management: Oversee the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and resource planning to deployment and post-launch optimization.
• Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the CTO and VP of Engineering to align program roadmaps with the overall technical and business vision.
• Process Excellence: Define and implement robust program management frameworks to improve engineering velocity and operational efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to manage dependencies and translate complex technical requirements into actionable project plans.
• Risk & Stakeholder Management: Proactively identify technical risks and bottlenecks, providing clear communication and mitigation strategies to senior leadership.

Who You Are

• Experience: 7+ years of experience in program management or engineering leadership, preferably within a high-scale, product-led organization.
• Core Engineering Background: A strong foundation in core engineering; you must be comfortable discussing system architecture, infrastructure, and technical trade-offs with senior engineers.
• SDLC Expert: Deep expertise in managing the full software development lifecycle and various project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
• Strategic & Execution-Oriented: A strategic thinker who can balance long-term technical debt with short-term delivery requirements.
• Communicator: Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate technical complexities to non-technical audiences.
• Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree from a Tier-1 institute (IIT, IISC, BITS, etc.) is preferred.
