About the Company

Manjushree Packtek Private Limited manufactures disposable food-service packaging paper cups, food containers, bowls, lids and popcorn tubs from its plant at Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bengaluru. The unit operates fully automatic cup-forming lines within a class 100,000 cleanroom environment suited to direct food-contact packaging, with in-house printing and customisation capability.

The company is part of the wider Manjushree group, which brings over four decades of packaging experience through Manjushree Technopack. Manjushree Packtek is a young and rapidly scaling operation, which means this role carries real ownership from the outset rather than a narrow slice of a large hierarchy.

Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Production Manager is accountable for converting the production plan into delivered output — on time, within specified wastage and quality limits, and with material availability managed so the lines never stop for want of raw material.

This is a hands‑on shop-floor role with a planning and analysis component. The successful candidate will spend part of the day on the line and part of it in the numbers, and is expected to be equally comfortable in both.

Key Responsibilities
1. Production Operations
  • Supervise daily production across cup forming, printing, sealing and packing lines, and deliver the committed shift and monthly output.
  • Allocate manpower and machines against the day's plan, and reallocate promptly when a line goes down or an order is expedited.
  • Monitor machine utilisation, cycle time, changeover time and downtime, and drive corrective action against the largest recurring loss.
  • Control process wastage and rejection at every stage — reel‑fed paper, printing, forming, sealing — against defined norms, and account for variance.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, process parameters and food‑grade hygiene discipline in the cleanroom environment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance on breakdown response and on scheduling preventive maintenance into low‑impact windows.
2. Production Planning and Scheduling
  • Prepare the daily, weekly and monthly production schedule from confirmed customer orders and dispatch commitments.
  • Sequence jobs to minimise changeovers across sizes, print designs and material grades, while protecting delivery dates.
  • Compute material requirements from the production plan and raise timely indents to purchase, with adequate lead time.
  • Track plan versus actual daily, identify the reason for every shortfall, and re‑plan rather than carry the gap forward silently.
  • Flag capacity constraints and delivery risks to the Production Manager early enough for a commercial decision to be taken.
3. Inventory and Material Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory of raw material — paper reels by GSM and grade, PE‑coated board, inks, adhesives — along with consumables, work in progress and finished goods.
  • Define and maintain reorder levels and safety stock by item, and revise them as consumption patterns change.
  • Ensure FIFO discipline and shelf‑life control on food‑grade material, and eliminate expiry‑driven write‑offs.
  • Conduct periodic physical stock verification, reconcile physical against system stock, and investigate and close every material variance.
  • Control non‑moving and slow‑moving stock, and drive down inventory holding without creating stock‑outs.
  • Coordinate with stores, purchase and quality on incoming material inspection, rejection and vendor return.
4. Process Improvement
  • Identify and close the recurring causes of wastage, downtime and rework using structured problem solving — 5 Why, fishbone, Pareto analysis.
  • Lead or contribute to Kaizen, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor, with measured before‑and‑after results.
  • Improve line efficiency and OEE through changeover time reduction, layout improvement and elimination of avoidable stoppages.
  • Standardise the way work is done — write and update SOPs and work instructions, and ensure operators are trained to them.
  • Quantify the saving from every improvement in rupees or in output, and present it. An improvement that cannot be measured has not been made.
5. Reporting, MIS and Cost Control
  • Prepare and circulate daily production, wastage, downtime and manpower productivity reports.
  • Maintain the production MIS in Excel, including plan versus actual, yield, rejection analysis and inventory ageing.
  • Track and control the controllable elements of conversion cost — material yield, power, consumables and overtime.
  • Support monthly closing with accurate production, consumption and stock data for costing and accounts.
6. People, Quality and Safety
  • Supervise, train and develop line operators, supervisors and contract manpower; build shift discipline and ownership.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and personal protective equipment requirements applicable to food‑contact packaging.
  • Support quality and customer audits, and close audit observations relating to production within committed timelines.
  • Maintain a safe workplace, report and investigate near‑misses, and enforce statutory and safety requirements without exception.
