Job summary

Shapoorji Pallonji Group is seeking a Deputy Manager/Assistant Manager - Projects in Mumbai to supervise and drive project execution in line with design, budget and quality targets.

You will coordinate with architects, contractors and internal teams to ensure timely completion, safety compliance and effective utilization of site resources. A BE/BTech in Civil with 6–10 years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
• 6–10 years of experience in real estate/building sectors (IT/Residential/Commercial).
• Very good knowledge of AutoCAD and related drafting standards.
• Demonstrated innovation skills in prior roles.
• Knowledge of IS and international codes for building industries.
• Understanding of statutory and local authority norms for building construction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project execution to meet design, cost, time, and safety targets.
• Ensure site resources, materials, and equipment are available as per plan.
• Supervise contractors to ensure quality and adherence to contract specs.
• Maintain safety standards and compliance with statutory requirements at site.
• Coordinate with internal/ external stakeholders and manage project costs within budget.

Job Description for Deputy Manager/Assistant Manager - Projects

Job location: Mumbai

Key purpose of the job: Responsible for supervision and management of the overall project execution as per the agreed design and cost parameters. Responsible to ensure all resources for the project available as per plan to meet deadlines and to ensure quality and safety standards maintained while achieving time and cost targets fixed for effective completion of project. Also responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory requirements at site.

Strategic

Participate in project planning and strategic discussions on the project

Adhering to Plans & Cost Estimates:

• To discuss the overall plan with the Head Operations to ensure complete understanding
• To ensure that the work undertaken at Site is as per the plan.
• To provide inputs in reviewing plans & communicating the reviewed plans, if any to all stakeholder
• To adhere to the provisions of the cost estimates for the project.

Operational

• Work execution at Site
• To review and if required further detail project plan prepared by Central Planning cell
• To coordinate with local architects and contractors to ensure that detailed plans are made in line with the agreed Plan
• To coordinate and ensure that the project site is ready (free from any encumbrances) before the actual construction starts, for example, land acquisition, ensuring the land is free of any encroachments, utility shifting etc.
• To ensure availability of materials, equipment etc that are to be provided at site and coordinate to ensure the same
• To supervise work at site to ensure that contractors are executing as per contract and to required quality and contract specifications and work completion is on schedule
• To provide technical guidance on site whenever & wherever required and resolving critical issues on site and be the single point of coordination with the Regional and HO as required
• To monitor the costs at Site periodically and ensure they are within budget.
• To ensure that there is a conducive and safe work environment at the site
• To manage and motivate staff at all levels to ensure that there is high morale and commitment at the site and productivity levels are maintained
• To ensure proper storage, record keeping and inventory of all materials at site
• To ensure adequate security is provided at site to minimize pilferage, etc
• To ensure all statutory compliances are kept up to date at site and other parties like contractors have also required statutory compliances
• To check and confirm that the quantification of work at site is done correctly by the quantity surveyor and reporting of work progress to Head office.
• To ensure that reporting to HO on the project is timely and participate in all project review meetings
• To provide support to liaison in getting approvals
• Developing, guiding and mentoring Site MEP team
• Developing working relationship with Internal and External Customers

Vendors & Contractors

• To assist where required in the selection of local vendors and contractors/sub-contractors
• To prepare jointly with procurement the detailed scope of work/specifications
• To develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and contractors

Quality & Safety

• To detail the Quality assurance Plan” for Inspection, Testing & Acceptance of materials, equipment and construction work at site in line with the corporate guidelines
• To ensure that all Quality Assurance & Quality Control activities are being carried out effectively and in a timely manner, so that the quality of material (cement, steel, etc)& equipment being used at the site is of high quality and reliable.
• To ensure the preparation & implementation of safety plans
• To ensure that safety training is regularly conducted for all staff including contractor staff

Others

• To ensure that Site accounts and petty cash are maintained accurately and as per the required guidelines

Internal & External Interactions
Internal: CEO, Functional Heads, Operations Head, Engineers at site

External: Vendors, suppliers and contractors, consultants, government approving authorities, Consultants, Sub- Contractors (if any),

Education & Experience Requirement:

• B.E / B. Tech in Civil Engineering.
