Job description

Purpose of the Role

Raw material is the single largest cost in our business and the biggest lever on our margins. We're scaling sourcing hard more volume, more locations, a bigger field team and this role is what makes that scale-up actually work on the ground. You'll lead Procurement Executives across locations, own the volume, quality, and landed cost of everything we buy, and report directly to the AVP Procurement. This is a build role, not a maintenance one: the team, systems, and discipline are being put in place now, and you'd be central to that.

What You'll Own Supply & Supplier Network
  • Secure daily volumes against targets across all sourcing locations consistent, predictable.
  • Build and hold supplier relationships; negotiate rates and ensure transparent, on-time payment
  • Grow the supplier base ahead of demand, not in reaction to a shortfall
Field Operations, Quality & Expansion
  • Run day-to-day sourcing operations end to end
  • Ensure material meets quality specifications at intake; work with the quality team on rejections and corrective action.
  • Track and improve yield, rejection rates, and cost per kg
  • Support the setup and ramp-up of new sourcing locations as we expand
Leading the Field Team
  • Build the discipline of accurate, daily reporting across the field team
  • Be the escalation point when something's stuck and show up in person when it matters
Numbers & Market Intelligence
  • Own landed cost per kg and be able to explain every movement in it
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier master data, payment reconciliation, and monthly MIS for the AVP
  • Read the market seasonality, supply, competing buyers, price moves and flag it early, not after the fact
What We're Looking For
  • Integrity this role carries real spend and supplier payments with limited day-to-day supervision. It's one of the highest-trust seats in the company; we reference-check carefully and expect full transparency on rates, weights, and payments
  • Intellectual horsepower genuinely good with numbers; can work out a yield, a landed cost, or a rate change impact fast, and notices when a figure looks wrong. We'd rather hire someone sharp who learns the category than someone experienced who can't think on their feet
  • Ownership we run on freedom and responsibility. Nobody chases you for updates or tracks your hours. In return, you own the outcome, raise problems early, and never let something quietly fail
  • 36 years in agri-commodity or field-based procurement, or field supply chain operations or animal feed industry
  • Experience running a distributed field team across locations and quality controls
  • Having built something from scratch a new geography, supplier base, or process is valued well above having just maintained one
  • Bachelor's in Agriculture, Sericulture, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, or Engineering; MBA is a plus, not a requirement
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets; comfortable with ERP and digital procurement tools
  • Clear written communication reporting is core to this job, not an afterthought
  • Fluent Kannada is a strong advantage; Telugu, Tamil, or Marathi useful as we expand; working English for internal reporting
  • Valid driving licence, ~30% travel, and comfort with field-work rhythm, including early starts
What’s in it for you
  • Compensation that matches your worth — best in industry, benchmarked to industry standards, not lowballed
  • Real financial security — PF, ESI/insurance, and other benefits as per company policy, so you're covered beyond just the paycheck
  • Travel taken care of — company travel policy covers you, so field/site visits don't come out of your pocket
How We Work at Loopworm
  • Freedom and responsibility — we tell you the outcome and the constraints, then get out of your way. No micromanagement. You own the result.
  • Honesty over comfort — bad news should travel fast. We'd rather hear about a problem the day it happens than a polished story a month later.
  • Numbers, not opinions — decisions are made on data; bring the arithmetic with your proposal
