Job summary

Tata AutoComp is seeking a Packaging Engineer to design and validate packaging solutions for automotive parts, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure OEM compliance.

You will analyze requirements, develop sustainable packaging concepts, and conduct validation tests while optimizing costs across packaging programs.

Qualifications

  • :Bachelor's degree in mechanical/industrial/packaging related field.
  • :3–8 years of packaging engineering experience in automotive or auto-component industries.
  • :Familiarity with OEM packaging standards and material handling concepts.
  • :Experience with CAD tools and packaging design software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • :Design and develop packaging solutions for automotive parts, components, and assemblies.
  • :Analyze packaging requirements based on product dimensions, weight, fragility, and transportation modes.
  • :Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and logistics teams for packaging standardization.
  • :Develop returnable and expendable packaging concepts to optimize cost and sustainability.
  • :Conduct packaging validation tests, including transit, vibration, drop, and environmental testing.
  • :Ensure compliance with OEM packaging standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • :Support new product development and localization projects by designing suitable packaging systems.
  • :Monitor packaging costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • :Resolve packaging-related issues affecting production, storage, and transportation.
  • :Prepare packaging specifications, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • :Manage packaging trials and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • :Coordinate with packaging material suppliers and logistics service providers.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-8 years of experience in packaging engineering within the automotive or auto-component industry.
  • Knowledge of returnable packaging, corrugated packaging, pallets, dunnage, and material handling systems.
  • Understanding of automotive supply chain and logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with OEM standards (Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai, Volkswagen, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and packaging design software is preferred.
