Job summary

Mashreq is seeking a seasoned Trade Operations professional to oversee approvals and payments within Trade Finance. You will ensure compliance with SOPs, UCP/ISBP/ISP, and ICC guidelines while authorising transactions in the processing system for multiple business segments.

You will lead sanction checks, manage trade operations, input and authorise SWIFT messages, and drive continuous improvement with onshore teams to prevent errors and revenue leakage, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Responsibilities

• Approve and process payments per SOPs and ICC guidelines.
• Sanction checks on relevant parties and document handling.
• Handle Trade Operations and input/authorise transactions including SWIFT messages.
• Ad-hoc tasks assigned by Team Head and escalation of issues when needed.
• Ensure no revenue leakage from charges and no Nostro/internal reconciliation gaps.
• Maintain compliance with UCP/ISBP/ISP and bank policies.

Job Purposes

The incumbent will be responsible for Approvals and Payments and Other Miscellaneous activities as per Bank’s internal policies, SOP’s as well as ICC guidelines and authorising the transactions in the processing system. The coverage will be all the areas of Trade Finance for various business segments

Key Result Areas

• All processing should be as per SOP/OPM’s and UCP/ISBP/ISP as applicable and charges recovery to be as per the extant guidelines.
• Perform sanction checking of relevant parties in documents.
• Handle Trade Operations.
• Responsible for authorizing/inputting transactions into the system and prepare/authorize relevant SWIFT messages.
• Ad-hoc tasks given by the Team Head
• Ensure errors/knowledge gaps are shared with line manager/team to address customer service issues.
• No revenue leakage due to miss out in charges collection
• No outstanding reconciliation entries pending in Nostro or Internal accounts.

Understanding and accurate analysis/interpretation of ICC publication as well as remaining abreast to the global compliance scenarios, Trade Based Money Laundering as well as Geo political situations is considered being proactive.

• Managing customers’ expectations, Ideation and working on automation projects
• Participating in Team Huddles and showing enough Teamwork to provide solutions to any issues
• Ensure solutions are implemented on fast track basis and work closely with onshore unit to ensure seamless client delivery.
• Audit observations if any, must be closed in an effective and timely manner.
• Ensures efficient processing of transactions, adherence to service standard and quality services to both internal and external customers.
• Acts as an authorizer/maker for Import LG issuance/Amendments/cancellation and/or similar stages for Standby Letter of Credits/Claims.
• Ensures that the practice and procedures stated in relative manual have been strictly followed during the course of transaction processing.
• Recommends actions in relation to changes in law, Rules of International Chamber of Commerce, Government regulations and bank policies which will affect the import scenario.

Decision Making Authority & Responsibility

• Taking corrective and preventive action based on Customer complaints, Ops error and quality/RCSA analysis.
• Recommend changes in SOP, OPM & ADM with an aim to improve service levels without compromising on controls.
• Recommend trainings and workshops to plug knowledge gap and embed ‘Ownership of resolution’ at grass-root level for effective results
• Immediately escalates any error/customer complaints/service defect/issues raised by counter party to the manager.
• Shares responsibility with his/her seniors.
• Team management skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 9-12 years of relevant working experiences in Trade Operations
• Expert level knowledge in Understanding of Trade Ops.
• Expert level knowledge of accounting entries and UATs.
• Understanding of amortization principles
• Good communication skills, Team Management and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel)
• Attentive to details, good analytical skills and interpersonal skills
• Able to work under pressure, excellent organizational skills and good team player.
