Job summary

Maersk is seeking a JL3 Assistant Manager Operations to lead day-to-day warehouse activities at our Bangalore facility. You will oversee inbound and outbound, inventory accuracy, and team supervision to meet SLA, safety, and cost targets.

The role requires 7–10 years in warehousing or contract logistics, proficiency with WMS/SAP, and strong leadership. You will drive continuous improvement, coordinate with transporters, and ensure compliance with Maersk standards.

Qualifications

• Qualifications: Any Graduate or Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics preferred.
• Experience 7–10 years of warehouse/contract logistics experience.
• Experience in WMS, SAP, Inventory Control, and Team Handling.
• Exposure to B2B, Retail, Consumer or Finished Goods warehousing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound, outbound, put-away, picking, packing, and dispatch activities with SLA adherence.
• Maintain inventory accuracy via cycle counts and stock verification; investigate discrepancies.
• Lead warehouse supervisors and contract labor; plan manpower and shifts; monitor attendance and performance.
• Serve as first point of contact for operational escalations and ensure KPI targets.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and 5S; conduct safety audits and incident reporting.
• Identify process improvements and drive Kaizen/Lean initiatives.

Position Purpose

To lead day-to-day warehouse operations including inbound, outbound, inventory, manpower management, customer service support, safety, and continuous improvement activities while ensuring SLA adherence, productivity, quality, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Operations Management Supervise daily inbound, outbound, put-away, picking, packing, and dispatch activities. Ensure timely execution of customer orders as per agreed SLAs. Monitor throughput and productivity targets daily. Coordinate with transporters and internal teams for smooth dispatch operations. Ensure efficient space utilization and warehouse capacity management.
2. Inventory Management Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and periodic stock verification. Investigate stock discrepancies and ensure timely closure. Monitor inventory ageing, damaged stock, and non-moving inventory. Ensure proper system transactions in WMS/SAP.
3. Team Management Lead warehouse supervisors and contract labour. Prepare manpower deployment plans and shift rosters. Monitor attendance, productivity, and discipline of the workforce. Conduct daily toolbox talks and team briefings. Support employee training and skill development.
4. Customer Service & SLA Management Act as the first point of contact for operational escalations. Ensure order fulfilment KPIs are achieved. Provide timely updates to customers and stakeholders. Support RCA and CAPA preparation for operational deviations.
5. Safety, Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with Maersk HSE standards and warehouse SOPs. Conduct safety audits and maintain 5S standards. Ensure adherence to customer compliance requirements. Report and investigate safety incidents and near misses.
6. Continuous Improvement Identify process improvement opportunities. Drive productivity enhancement initiatives. Reduce operational waste, rework, and overtime. Participate in Kaizen and Lean initiatives.
