Job summary

Evonik India Pvt. Ltd. in Thane invites applications for an Assistant Manager - Lab Technologist in the Oil Additives business line. You will lead lubrication formulation work and oversee lab testing to ensure product performance.

The role requires a Master’s in Chemistry or Engineering, at least 5 years in lubricant formulation and testing, with tribology experience preferred. You will document results, coordinate with external labs and R&D, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in lubricant formulation and testing.
• Experience in tribology is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of lubricant specifications and test methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform lubricants blend optimization studies to achieve desired performance.
• Conduct lab testing to measure properties of lubricating oil.
• Prepare summarized test reports and data presentation for stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks, test protocols and reports.
• Coordinate with 3rd-party labs and global R&D teams as required.
• Create and update SOPs, test methods and calibration records.
• Perform routine calibration, maintenance of lab equipment.
• Participate in lab audits and round-robin test programs.
• Follow EHS guidelines related to lab testing, chemical handling and waste disposal.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform lubricants blend optimization studies to achieve desired performance.
• Conduct necessary lab testing to measure physical, mechanical and chemical properties of the formulated lubricating oil
• Prepare summarized test reports and data presentation for communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks, test protocols and test reports
• Coordination with 3rd party lab and global R&D team as and when required
• Create and update SOPs, test methods and calibration records
• Perform routine calibration, performance check and preventive maintenance of lab equipment
• Participate in lab audits and round robin test programs as and when necessary
• Follow EHS guidelines related to lab testing, chemical handling and waste disposal

Education & Experience Required

• Master’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in lubricant formulation and testing.
• Experience in tribology is preferred.

Technical & Operational Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of lubricant specifications, formulations, and test methods across automotive and industrial lubricant segments.
• Understanding of internal processes and interfaces, including workshops, ordering processes, and facility management.
• Proficiency in presentation techniques and stakeholder communication.
• Experience in project management and cross-functional coordination.
