Job summary

Evonik India Pvt. Ltd. in Thane seeks an Assistant Manager - Lab Technologist to lead lubricant formulation and testing in the Oil Additives lab. You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, document results, and drive continuous improvement.

The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering with 5+ years in lubricant formulation and testing; tribology experience is preferred. Strong project management and cross‑functional communication are essential.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in lubricant formulation and testing.
• Tribology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform lubricants blend optimization studies to achieve desired performance.
• Conduct lab testing to measure physical, mechanical and chemical properties of lubricants.
• Prepare summarized test reports and data presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks, test protocols and test reports.
• Coordinate with 3rd party labs and global R&D teams as needed.
• Create and update SOPs, test methods and calibration records.
• Perform routine calibration, performance checks and maintenance of lab equipment.
• Participate in lab audits and round robin test programs as needed.
• Follow EHS guidelines related to lab testing, chemical handling and waste disposal.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform lubricants blend optimization studies to achieve desired performance.

Education & Experience Required

• Master’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in lubricant formulation and testing.
• Experience in tribology is preferred.

Technical & Operational Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of lubricant specifications, formulations, and test methods across automotive and industrial lubricant segments.
• Understanding of internal processes and interfaces, including workshops, ordering processes, and facility management.
• Proficiency in presentation techniques and stakeholder communication.
• Experience in project management and cross-functional coordination.
