Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Overall Library management:Oversee the management of library operations, such as budgeting,staffing, and resource allocation.
• Collection DevelopmentTechnical Services - which includes various procedures involved inacquisition of different materials, classification and processing,cataloguing and creating metadata
• Information Access Services -that include circulation, reference services, access to digitalresources, assisting with research-related tasks and librarywebsite-related activities
• Record Maintenance -Completing administrative work such as filing paperwork and updatinglibrary records, Conduct regular checks and updates on inventory anddatabase information

Additionally,the librarian is also responsible for having a broader vision for overalldevelopment of the library which includes:

Developand implement a strategic vision for library services, aligning with theinstitution's requirements.

Leadand inspire a team of library professionals, fostering a culture ofcollaboration, and continuous improvement.

Evaluateand enhance library collections, ensuring they are diverse, inclusive, andreflective of current trends and university’s interest.

Utilizedata-driven approaches to assess library performance and user satisfaction,implementing changes based on findings.

Skills Required

• ICTskills - Knowledge of library management software especially KOHA andproficiency in using computer applications such as Word, Excel alongwith AI tools.
