Allison Transmission in India seeks an Assistant General Manager - Marketing to lead strategic marketing for On-Highway Truck and Bus, Off-Highway, and Defense programs, driving revenue growth and market share.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
  • MBA or masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience with at least 5 years in marketing, sales, or commercial vehicles, or auto industry in India.
  • Experience working with OEMs or fleets in commercial vehicle industry in India preferred.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; PowerBI proficiency preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing programs, strategies, and campaigns to drive measurable business results.
  • Lead market segmentation and develop segment-specific strategies with regional teams.
  • Design and implement marketing plans communicating value proposition: performance, productivity, reliability.
  • Identify and quantify market opportunities for new Allison products tailored to Indian requirements.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to inform decisions.
  • Establish data management and tracking systems to optimize marketing effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with Asia-Pacific team to grow India market share.
  • Support cross-regional initiatives to maintain Allison's competitive advantage.
  • Brand building, PR, and media oversight; develop regional marketing tools and resources.
  • Plan and execute trade shows, OEM partnerships; manage marketing budget with monthly reporting.

Job description

Drive Allison Transmission's market expansion and brand leadership across India's commercial vehicle sector. As Assistant General Manager - Marketing, you will spearhead integrated marketing strategies for On-Highway Truck and Bus segments, Off-Highway applications, and Defense programs—directly influencing revenue growth and market share in one of the world's fastest-growing mobility markets. This role combines strategic market development with hands-on execution, positioning you as a key architect of Allison's success throughout the region.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Planning & Execution
  • Partner with senior management to develop and execute comprehensive marketing programs, strategies, and campaigns that drive measurable business results
  • Lead market segmentation analysis and develop segment-specific strategies in collaboration with regional country teams
  • Design and implement marketing plans that communicate Allison's core value proposition: performance, productivity, efficiency, and reliability
  • Identify and quantify market opportunities for new Allison products, providing critical insights for product specifications tailored to Indian requirements
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to track evolving marketplace dynamics and inform strategic decisions
  • Establish data management and tracking systems to optimize marketing effectiveness and support sales growth initiatives
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Coordinate with Asia-Pacific team members to ensure consistent, effective marketing strategies that accelerate sales growth across India
  • Support cross-regional opportunities and Strategic Insight initiatives to maintain Allison's competitive advantage globally
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners on strategic projects
  • Brand Building & Communications
  • Develop regional marketing tools and resources to strengthen Allison's brand presence and market positioning
  • Build and manage a strategic mix of internal resources and contracted agencies to enhance marketing communications capabilities
  • Oversee all PR and media activities, including press releases, testimonials, and advertising campaigns
Events & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Plan and execute high-impact trade shows, industry events, and OEM partnerships that generate leads and strengthen market relationships
  • Represent Allison at key community and business forums, expanding the company's network and influence
  • Manage marketing budget in India, ensuring optimal resource allocation and providing accurate monthly reporting and forecasts

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or related field of study.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
  • At least 7-10 years’ working experience including minimum of 5 years in marketing, sales, or commercial vehicles, or auto industry, business development.
  • Experience working with OEMs or fleets in commercial vehicle industry in India will be preferred.
  • Wide Body Dump OEM interface experience will be preferred.
  • Customer-centric and ability to bond with customers at all levels.
  • Self-starter and fast learner with strong ability to energize and inspire others.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both listening and presentation.
  • Strong organizations skills and disciplined work ethics.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Willingness to travel as required to achieve objectives.
  • Good Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • PowerBI or other data analysis skills are preferred
PREFERRED:
  • MBA or Masters degree are preferred
  • Marketing Degree couple with Engineering Discipline.
  • Knowledge of engines/transmissions in commercial vehicles
  • Commercial vehicle or special vehicle Sales and Marketing experience in India.
