Exide Energy Solutions Limited is looking for Vendor Development : Metal in the Manufacturing organisation to achieve company's goal at the Prantij, Gujarat Location.
Job Location: Prantij, Gujarat
Roles and Responsibiliites:
- Conduct rigorous supplier audits for stamping, fabrication, laser cutting, and welding processes.
- Define incoming quality standards, dimensional criteria, and sampling plans for all metal components.
- Lead PPAP approval for new tools, dies, fixtures, and components.
- Drive structured problemsolving (8D/CAPA) for defects such as cracks, burrs, distortion, weld errors, and dimensional deviations.
- Monitor supplier performance through PPM, scrap rate, rework %, and capability indices (Cp/Cpk).
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and EV batteryspecific quality expectations
- Build longterm supplier capability in stamping accuracy, fabrication consistency, and welding robustness.
- Lead process capability improvements, tooling optimization, errorproofing (PokaYoke), and defect prevention strategies.
- Guide suppliers on die maintenance, die life improvement, preventive maintenance, and fixture adequacy.
- Support suppliers in implementing Control Plans, PFMEA, process controls, and traceability systems.
- Drive continuous improvement and Lean implementation at supplier sites to reduce waste and improve yield.
- Develop SQD roadmaps, readiness plans, and upgrades for scaling volumes and new programs.
- Participate in supplier selection and technical capability assessment for new components.
- Validate tool/die design, fabrication feasibility, and stamping trial readiness.
- Review prototype samples, FAT/SAT results, and dimensional reports for early detection of issues.
- Ensure all new metal parts meet functional, safety, and durability requirements before SOP.
- Work with Procurement, R&D, Manufacturing, and Engineering to ensure robust supplier onboarding.
- Collaborate with design teams to review DFM/DFA and reduce part complexity or scrap.
- Provide supplier quality insights to leadership on risks, escalations, and improvement priorities.
- Support costreduction and localization projects without compromising quality.
Mandatory Skills:
- Strong knowledge of metal stamping, forming, bending, fabrication, and laser cutting.
- Expertise in progressive, tandem, and transfer die operations.
- Ability to assess tooling design, die maintenance, wear patterns, and die life.
- Deep understanding of sheet metal properties and stamping behavior.
- Strong background in welding (spot, projection, MIG/TIG) and weld quality control.
- Knowledge of surface treatments: powder coating, plating, anodizing, corrosion protection.
- Proficiency in GD&T, CMM, height gauges, profile measurement, and dimensional inspection.
- Handson experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, Cp/Cpk, 8D, CAPA.
- Ability to analyze defects: cracks, burrs, distortion, dents, weld spatter, undercuts, porosity.
- Strong process validation and supplier audit skills.
- Experience managing supplier metrics: PPM, scrap %, rework %, yield.
- Capability to drive lean improvements, errorproofing, and zerodefect initiatives.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
