Job summary

Layam is seeking skilled technicians in Chennai for valve assembly, testing and calibration. The role involves assembling and testing Bypass, Globe and Isolation Valves for Oil & Gas applications, working with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical actuators, and performing hydrostatic testing to ensure quality.

• Strong hands-on experience in valve assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Individual efficiency of 90%+ and focus on 100% first-pass yield.

Responsibilities

• Assemble components according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Use hand tools, power tools and relevant assembly equipment.
• Assemble and test Bypass, Globe and Isolation Valves for Oil & Gas applications.
• Work with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical actuators.
• Assemble and test actuator systems and perform positioner calibration/testing.
• Conduct Hydrostatic (Shell) Testing, including Class-rated valves above 1500.
• Perform inspection and testing to ensure product quality and functionality.
• Troubleshoot valve assembly, operational and equipment-related issues.
• Select and set up appropriate tooling for efficient job execution.
• Handle valves above 2 to 4 tonnes using hoists and cranes for movement/loading/unloading.
• Maintain accurate records and keep the work area, machinery and equipment clean.
• Detect and report faulty materials, machine problems and assembly defects.
• Follow all company, safety and operational procedures.
• Work independently, make necessary corrections and support process improvements.
• Train and mentor junior technicians when required.
• Document assembly procedures and maintain accurate work records
