Job summary

Aditya Birla Capital is seeking an Area Legal Manager in Mumbai to execute legal strategies for recovery of outstanding amounts from customers. You'll protect and defend the company in litigation cases while ensuring compliance with banking laws.

Qualifications

Area Legal Manager

Location: Mumbai

Reports to: Regional Legal Manager

Function: Risk, Management & Compliance

Department: Risk & Legal & Collections

Key Responsibilities

• Execute legal strategies to facilitate recovery of outstanding amounts from customers.
• Protect and defend the company and employees in litigation cases.
• Maintain detailed management information system (MIS) reports on legal proceedings.
• Coordinate regularly with law firms and advocates, and discuss strategies for monthly case filing and recovery.
• Assist the Regional Legal Manager in filing cases and managing recovery litigation across state/area jurisdictions.
• Serve as witness, provide evidence, and assist in formulating pleadings, claims, counterclaims, arguments, and evidences.
• Draft and respond to notices from customers, counterparties, and statutory authorities.
• Coordinate with external counsels, law firms, and advocates on case status updates.
• Manage cases under Sections 9 and 17 of the Arbitration Act and represent the company before district courts.
• File and pursue execution petitions under the Code of Civil Procedure in district courts.
• Handle crisis situations arising from borrower complaints and coordinate with law enforcement agencies.
• Maintain records and files of all cases for future reference.
