Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Mumbai is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to lead the engineering and execution of rotating equipment packages for offshore oil & gas projects, with a focus on Fire Water pumps and 675 pump systems. You will serve as Area Lead from FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, commissioning and startup.

You will prepare, review and approve datasheets and specifications; lead pump package scopes; ensure compliance with international standards;

Qualifications

• Experience leading rotating equipment design and package engineering for offshore projects.
• Knowledge of pumps types and associated packaging.
• Ability to manage multi-discipline interfaces and project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and execution of rotating equipment packages for offshore projects.
• Prepare, review and approve datasheets, specs, MRs, TEVs, vendor docs, and inspections.
• Develop and review rotating equipment philosophies and test requirements.
• Oversee FW pumps, utility/process/centrifugal/diesel and motor driven pump packages and skid packages.
• Ensure compliance with project specs and international standards; monitor vendor engineering.
• Review pump curves, hydraulic calculations, NPSH, and operating envelopes.
• Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews and model reviews.
• Resolve technical issues during engineering and project execution; support FAT, SAT and commissioning.
• Mentor engineers in rotating equipment design and package engineering; ensure system integration.

Job description

Lead the engineering and execution of rotating equipment packages with specific responsibility for Fire Water (FW) Pumps and 675 Pump Systems within offshore oil & gas projects.

Act as Area Lead for assigned rotating equipment scope from FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, commissioning, and startup.

Ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards. Monitor vendor engineering activities and ensure timely submission and approval of documents. Review pump performance curves, hydraulic calculations, NPSH requirements, operating envelopes, and mechanical design parameters. Verify equipment selection against process requirements and operating conditions. Participate in HAZOP, Design Reviews, Constructability Reviews, and Model Reviews. Resolve technical issues related to rotating equipment during engineering and project execution stages. Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), mechanical completion, and commissioning activities. Ensure proper integration of rotating equipment with piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Drive equipment reliability, maintainability, operability, and lifecycle performance considerations. Mentor and guide engineers engaged in rotating equipment design and package engineering activities.
