Job summary

JSW Steel Limited is seeking an Area Incharge-Mechanical to lead the pellet plant’s mechanical maintenance and reliability programs. This role requires strategic leadership and hands-on execution to keep equipment performing safely and efficiently.

You will drive preventive and predictive maintenance, supervise the team, manage budgets, collaborate with production, and ensure safety and quality standards while pushing continuous improvement across mechanical operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance and operations in steel manufacturing or heavy industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team to ensure optimal performance and reliability of pellet plant machinery and equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to align mechanical operations with plant production goals and quality standards.
• Monitor and analyze mechanical equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance within the mechanical department.
• Manage budgeting, procurement, and inventory control for mechanical spare parts and tools.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on mechanical efficiency, cost reduction, and process optimization.
• Oversee root cause analysis of mechanical failures and lead troubleshooting efforts to prevent recurrence.
• Mentor and develop mechanical engineering staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and teamwork.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams on equipment upgrades, installations, and modifications.
